Hell there are millions of people out there who are dishonest and they've never seen the inside of a prison cell.
And for your information in this country you're not anybody unless you can claim some linkage to what are known as the first fleeters - and most of them were convicts transported here in chains.

I've worked with plenty of ex cons, and lots of people who thought their shit didn't stink, and frankly most of the ex cons have been more trustworthy than those who have done plenty of crime but haven't done any time.

Used to employ old-school cons to manage adult stores - it was beneath em to even dream of siphoning cash or stock and they took care of any problems in the stores
There was *never* a problem.
On the other hand - they were "professional" crooks above the petty level - "normally" did banks etc
But.... a few were maybe not too bright, but they were loyal as hell and welcomed a "second chance". Most idiotic "crime" was ... could not open a safe so managed to remove it to a pig farm where they blew it - unfortunately that screwed up as well (used too much explosive) and the safe was totally sealed The law appeared kinda quick - mainly because it was the largest recorded explosion in that area since WW2

Then the was the proceeds of a few banks which were used to buy a cattle farm. Unfortunately... they never managed to become "gentleman farmers" and bought the wrong cattle feeding stuff...
That resulted in the cows stomach's enlarging to a silly level that they blew up

Got one a job in a kinda upmarket jewellery store - he dressed smart, looked the part and would be a handy "minder" if there was a robbery...
But... despite the "presentation" was immaculate... ("Yes mam, no mam" stuff) the "veneer" slipped on the odd occasion Was in the store one rainy day and just happened to be in earshot while this guy was opening the door to a blue-rinse elderly lady. She says... "Terrible weather today". He replied "Yes mam, fucking pissing down today"
The old lady looked a total blank - I doubt she believed what she actually heard and prob thought she was imagining it

I like hearing good things about ex crooks getting a second chance and really doing well at it, I've seen a few guys really do well in the straight world Unfortunately some of them fuck it up, I'm nearlly 44yrs old I was in my 20's when I went to prison, I dont mix with any crooks at all, and the only thing I do illegal is smoke weed and maybe go over the speed limit on my triumph. Dunno how anyone can manage to screw stuff up so much!!!

These guys never actually ended up in jail again - they already had a ... fairly extensive "career" robbing banks etc and some had spent almost 30 years in jail over their lifetimes - they had no intention of going back if they could help it.
There was also an "honor" inbuilt - they would never steal from an individual - it was always banks/insurance companies etc. They also never shot anyone in the progress of a robbery (favorite was bang a few shots into the ceiling of a bank and bring down the plaster ). They would never take drugs or sell drugs - drug dealing was regarded as scum world for "amateurs"
Only one who had a shorter life was a guy who had a daughter who ended up on drugs and that eventually killed her. He was totally screwed up over his daughter dying this way that he closed the store on a Saturday night and drove 50 ish miles and booked into a hotel and committed suicide by drug overdose. I remember one .. he dressed like a typical old-style "gentleman"
He had closed up his store one night and was walking home... some "kids" apparently started name-calling and ended up ... think they were going to mug him. Bad news!!! *lol* The all ended up on the ground and the law cleaned up.
Anyways... knew nothing about this and Tom was missing and nobody knew where he was.... Eventually we get a call from the police who "think" we may be able to identify someone
So... off to the visit the police and they guide me to the cells where I see Tom sitting on a bench. He had been in the cell for.. almost three days. Asks... "What you doing here Tom?" He replies "I never said a word - kept my mouth shut" Had to tell him he was the friggin victim and all the police wanted was his ID (just his name/address etc) But na!!! He would not even give them that! *lol*
I can see that guy sitting in a jail cell for 15 years and not saying anything
