Yes, that is a hoot. Good times.
Are you saying that stuff doesn't exists anymore? I just randomly pulled those off the net because I am not in the mood to go through my own pics and re-size them for the board. All of that stuff is still there and looks just like the pics I posted. SOME beaches in Thailand are not being taken care of, I will not dispute that, but the majority are still pristine.
You must visit Pattaya or something when you come. Your POV is usually that of someone who goes there and has never seen the rest of Thailand.
Oh I don't know, the part where they slow it down and focus in on it.
No, but my photos only, I was making a point to mafia_man. Anyone can find bad pics from any country. It does not represent that country.Comment

I would say it's probably the best hub for SE Asia, with only Singapore being as convenient. Short of living in Singapore, I can't think of another airport in the region as cheap and convenient as BKK. I'm not saying it's the best airport, but it's not (all those on your list are much better airports), but for actual convenience it's better.
Hong Kong is more expensive to get in and out of and not really practical for SE Asian travel, but it is a great airport. Narita is 6 - 8 hours away from everywhere, and while NRT would probably be considered THE HUB for ALL of Asia, it's also inconvenient for SE Asia travel. Singapore is solid, but I wouldn't go all the way to Singapore to fly on to Manila, Vientiane, Jakarta, or any other city in this part of the world.Comment

How many people have already mentioned this same video was originally posted here over a year ago?
Can't have been the only foreigner beaten up by a bar girl in that time surely...Comment

If anything, I would say Kuala Lumpur is the travel hub of SE Asia. Singapore is too far south, KL sees FAR more business than BKK does, and there's loads of flights in/out, plus KL is (somewhat) in the middle of everything. Plus KL is the HQ of AirAsia, which is by far the most dominant airline in the region.
Thailand can't even build an airport correctly. How are they going to be the travel hub? A few years ago, finally finished their new international airport, then just after opening it was, "Whoops, fucked that up! Ok, divert all domestic flights to that old, crappy airport, then another few hundred million and about 1.5 years, and we should have a fully operational airport!"
That type of thing is very, VERY typical of Thailand though. It's good in a way, and it leads for a much easier going, and relaxed life. Just takes a bit of getting used to though.

QFT.... closest thing to heaven on earth.Heh. I'll tell you why I stay Jim. 10 reasons (in no order)....
1) It's crazy cheap. I have just about everything here than you guys have back there, except a fast internet connection. And it's 1/4 less.
2) You can pretty much do anything you want so long as you don't cause problems with the locals or bring attention to yourself. Even then, you can usually get away with it. Example, sometimes just for fun when the cops try to pull us over on our scooters (and they are on theirs), we make them chase us. Doesn't get you into any more trouble, only cost a few bucks. Cheap entertainment right there.
3) There are just a few of us who own the entire SE Asian porn market. We don't have to compete with the 100s of people producing skinny white girls, or fat ones for that matter. It's a niche market and we have it all to ourselves. And don't knock the fat Asian ones, I own that market with no competition in the English market.
4) You can serve up street justice if you need to, with little recourse. Won't hesitate to beat another foreigner down with a pipe or a brick, because when the cops come and it's a foreigner or foreigner issue, there isn't a problem. Whoever speaks the most Thai and knows how to deal with the police, wins.
5) The supply of pussy, with bodies of any size, is so vast you could not fuck 1% of them if you fucked 20 a day for the rest of your life.
6) If you get a speeding ticket (or a ticket of any kind), it cost about $6 USD and they can't ticket you again for 7 days. So in a nutshell, you can do ANYTHING YOU WANT on the road for the next 7 days. Then pay $6 again and get another 7 days and so on. This kicks total ass.
7) Bangkok is the hub for all of Asia. I can cheaply travel all over Asia, and quickly. Going to Indonesia, Philippines, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, China, Hong Kong... it's almost as easy quick and easy as gong to dinner.
8) I get DAILY Thai massages. It costs about $6 (seems to be the magic number here). Maybe $7.50 after I tip her. Sometimes I get two hot young girls at a time and splurge for a 2 hour oil massage... $20 bucks.
9) It's different than everything I was raised to know. Every day is something new. A different way of doing things, different culture, different language, and different smells and tastes. My brain is always stimulated and I'm always learning something new. Hopping around Asia makes me learn many languages along with other cultures and ways of doing things. I live in a constant state of learning. I love that.
10) I can see stuff like this within an hours travel or less:

Violence and crime is everywhere in the world. I'd rather take my chances here where I know the score than deal with the red tape BS and power hungry cops back in the USA. I prefer to be on my own in an environment that lets me be, with rules that while may be somewhat unfair to foreigners, they also let you get away with a lot of shit and allow you to do whatever you pretty much want, within reason. So long as you don't cause problems for the locals, you're a king here. I'll take a little bit of 3rd world grit for that.
Besides, 10 more years in the direction the USA is heading and you guys are not going to be much better off. As your currency devalues, jobs as lost, homes are lost, businesses and banks crumble, there is only one way to go and that is down. Crime will continue to rise and it won't be long before you will wish you were here.
Oh... and where else can you have a pet baby elephant?
