    Value of Domains Question

Can anyone recommend a domain appraisal service?

I have a number of pretty good domains, and I have absolutely no idea how much they are worth

Any thoughts or ideas would be appreciated

    Thanks

Those services suck. Domain value is appraised at what someone will buy for and what someone will sell for.

Sorry to sound like a jerk but it's true.

Post them here and you will get a 'feeling' of the value...

              Here is an example:

              sex.com sold for $14 million.

sexground.com is worth closer to $14.

              Hope that helps.

Everyone just goes out and buys domains because they are appraised high.. you need to realize a domain is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it

You should get a hold of KRL if he's still on GFY. He's the guy you'd want to talk to about this kind of stuff.

                    Domain appraisals are kinda pointless.

If they are "brandable", keyword relevant or short meaningful names and eg. you owned them for around five years of more - all can have value. It then depends who wants to buy and what price etc..

I do a lot of main stream sites and I just read a great post about site valuations: http://tropicalseo.com/2007/how-to-b...an-sell-for-1m

                      Very interesting!

Domain appraisals are a surefire way to make money... for the domain appraisor.

It's worth what someone will pay and, in general, no two people will pay the same amount for the same thing. The value is truly in the eye of the beholder.

There are many factors in what makes a name valuable, and very little of it can be controlled.

What's the TLD? How long is the name? Is it one word or made up of several? Is it easy to remember? To spell? to say? How well does it describe it's contents (that's where the rubber meets the road)?

Is it something that is frequently searched for? e.g. is it a popular keyword?

In your example "soccerground.com", you pointed out that soccer.net and soccerleague.com are worth some good money. That would make sense to mee as soccer.net is one word. It's not .com, but it's still useful. Soccer League is a phrase familar to me, so that makes sense. I can't say I've ever heard the phrase "soccer ground" before, "soccer field", yes. Is there a locality where "soccer ground" is a commonly used phrase? if so, it would have value there. Anywhere else, it's just a contrived word and you might as well just coin some word like "soccerlicious" or "soccerextreme".

I'd love to give you the magic answer, but, there truly isn't one.
