Is it just me or does Vista take an awfully long time to copy files from drive to drive, and over the network? Seems to like pause, go, pause, go, pause go, drivin me nuts

The only issue I've had with moving file on Vista is with external drives (usb 2.0). If I copy files to my external 2.0 drive instead of my external express drive, it will get sluggish and sometimes give a delayed write failure in vista. I have not had any issue with big files or multiple files from HD to HD or over the network. That problem is what made me give up vista until at least the first sp.

its a little slow for me... worse than moving things around is unzipping large files that were not created on a vista machine... argh 4 hours to unzip 650mb the same file zipped and unzipped on a vista machine took 20 mins.
oh and dont try to unzip 2 files at once to the same folder... bad bad things happen and you have to start over!!I have no siggy and I want no siggy.. damn no I have one again!Comment

Doesn't make much sense to me, my OS is on a 10k rpm Raptor drive, fast PC, I dunno, seemed way faster on XP, and in Vista it has to think what it's going to do, start, then it moves in "steps" instead of just streaming it, the bar goes up in increments and pauses.. Do yours go smoothly?Comment

I use x64 ultimate and don't have any problems. Only external storage I use are 2-4gig thumb drives and an ipod nano. It's never slow to fill them up. Rars and zips are fast as well. But it is some thing that seems to effect a lot of people, don't know what the cause is.264-543-302Comment
