A good students bestest friend...
Well afted sloshing my way through 7 pages I couldn't help but contribute. This one was presented to us by a guy who was doing a talk at our school, he represented one of those schools for gifted people. Have a go.
This works best if you write it down on a piece of paper:
1+5+5=150
Now, make that statement true using only one straight line. And no, you can't just cross out the equals sign.

At a local bar, three friends, Mr. Green, Mr. Red and Mr. Blue, were having a drink. One man was wearing a red suit; one a green suit; and the other a blue suit. "Have you noticed," said the man the blue suit, "that although our suits have colors corresponding to our names, not one of us is wearing a suit that matches our own names?" Mr. Red looked at the other two and said, "You're absolutely correct."
What color suit is each man wearing?
sorry...sheesh.
I have finally cracked a riddle...
Mr Green is in blue
Mr Red is in green
Mr Blue is in red

Two mathematicians are talking.
The first one says: I remember you had three sons; how old are they now?
The second one: If I multiply their ages, the result is 36
First one: This is not enough for me to tell the ages.
Second: If I add their ages, the result is the age of YOUR son.
First: I have only one son, I know his age, but this is not enough yet to tell the ages of your sons.
Second: The older one is attending piano lessons.
First one: OK, now I can tell the ages.
Questions:
- what are the ages of the three sons of the second man?
- what is the age of the son of the first man?
The error is in assuming that, if a^2 = b^2, then a=b
Actually, if a^2 = b^2, all you can say is that |a| = |b|, where |a| means the module of a, i.e., a without a sign
(2-3/2)^2=(1-3/2)^2 =>
(2-3/3) = (1-3/2) is WRONG
(2-3/2)^2=(1-3/2)^2 =>
|2-3/2| = |1-3/2| =>
|1/2| = |-1/2| = 1/2 is OK
As for your riddle, the answer is 2,2,9 for the 3 sons and 13 for the other guys son.
3 numbers, when multiplied give 36 and what adding them gives:
1 1 36 =38
2 1 18 =21
3 1 12 =16
4 1 9 =14
6 1 6 =13
2 2 9 = 13
3 2 6 = 12
"I have only one son, I know his age, but this is not enough yet to tell the ages of your sons. "
> Therefore, the sum must occur twice:
6 1 6 =13
2 2 9 = 13
"The older one is attending piano lessons."
> There has to be only ONE older son.

I'm assuming from the line concerning piano lessons that two of the sons are twins...
I'm assuming the age of the first man's son is 13.
therefore making the second man's sons 2, 2, and the oldest is 9?
2x2x9=36?

A guy is on his way home one night when he walks past a store window that contains a competition.
In the display window of the shop is a turn-table on an angle, with raised edges, rolling around the turn table is 100 or more marbles.
The marbles are moving around so as it is not possible to count them.
The competition is, guess how many marbles are rolling around on the turntable and win $500.
The next morning the guy came back to the shop while it was open, walked up to the store clerk and was able to tell him EXACTLY how many marbles were on the turn-table, hence winning the competition.
How did he know for sure, EXACTLY how many marbles were there?

A man and his son are riding along in a car and get into a terrible accident, the father dies, the son is taken to the hospital. The doctor that is working that night says: "I cant operate that man, because he is my son."
how is that possible?
The mans son is also a father he died the man is the son of the doctor which would make him the grandfather of the one who dies
hehe
that's what i was about to say...but it sounds to easy...
Nope..
lets make it clearer, the guy has nothing to do with the shop, he never touched the display in anyway, nor did he break the glass or anything like that
I'm pretty sure that has to be it but I still cant figure out how it is sometimes yellow and sometimes green or how it is always in the middle and always in the end.
Anyone have an explaination?
