besides, if you want to format and not be able to recover it, you'll have to format, then create a huge file which will take up all the space, and format again. that way, IMO, recovery will not be possible.

If physically destroying the whole machine isn't an option then this is what I'd do.
Format C: (if you don't know how, click start, shut down, and select restart in MSDOS mode, when it reboots and you get the command prompt, type format C:, and answer yes to all of the questions)
Then I would reinstall windows, and norton system works. I'd use the norton wipe info on the free space of the drive, and then I'd format C again.....
Then load it up with whatever you had on there before.sig too bigComment

I would remove the hard drive, take it apart, destroy every platter, then bury all the pieces all over the place - then buy a new hard drive and throw it in. Safest way in my opinion.Do not use a hatchet to remove a fly from a friend's forehead.
