    Did you know someone claiming to start one of the first tubes did a Q&A On reddit?

    Claims he sold out for over a million dollars even though the site was barely breaking even. Last part bolded for all the idiots that are going to get rich by having a popular tube site with no reliable business plan.

                                  I'm leaning towards it being faked but I haven't read all his comments yet. However the software would also have value too since he claims to have custom coded it. So don't forget to account for this.

                                  I don't doubt that a pirate tube can be very profitable now and in the near future. I just think that you will make more money in the long term by eventually going non-pirate because you are devaluing one of your main products (http://www.gofuckyourself.com/showthread.php?t=992899) and sources of income. Ad revenues should eventually drop as the value of the eyes you send drop. Dating and cams will help but it probably won't be enough to offset what you'll lose and both also have their own free competition to worry about.

                                  I think some in the game are hoping to eventually be bought out or to find mainstream investors. I recall reading something from Fabian of Manwin here on GFY which sort of gave me the impression (reading between the lines) that they are hoping for this with their own tube properties. I might be wrong on that. Whatever the case with that I find the idea foolish. The opportunity cost of what you are throwing away is far greater. As someone else here stated (paraphrased and uncredited due to memory), "turning a billion dollar industry into a million dollar industry".

                                                              It's a little bit different when you go from a fairly popular tube site to a fucking huge ass everyone knows your name tube site. It's also different when you are linking to two hour videos vs 5 minute embeds.

                                                              I am well aware of all of the nuances that go into how profitable a site is, are you? If so, why are you acting like you have some top secret information that nobody else does?

                                                                      Part that seems strange to me is that he claims to be looking for angel capital after he made a sucessfull million dollar+ exit.

                                                                      Angel capital is small ($50K?) so he should be able to spare that money and after a +$1million exit I'm sure he could find someone to finance him, I just don't understand why he's so eager to give out equity for a little cash.

                                                                      Looks like someone that made up a story to use as credentials to collect money, he's probably broke and wants to try some ideas.

                                                                      other than that the story seems completly plausible, it's the internet, you don't need to hire a full team or invest a lot to go huge.

It's just some kid who had no idea about the biz made a super popular site and didn't know how to profit from the massive traffic so he got boned by the hosting fees and sold out for 1/10th of its value.
