That is craaazy !:P I have two pit bulls and one of them grew out of this habit after she turned 1 the other one still does it to his stuffed toys.
I'd say they need to be crated, just make sure you dont send them in the crate yelling at them, crate should be their safe happy place. First put their crates somewhere where they can see you during the day so they get used to being in if they arent already. So when you leave them alone they wont do any damage this way, also you can get those doggy gates and keep them in an area of the house where they cant go crazy on pillows, etc.
If they do this when you are around as well then maybe some obedience classes that would give you some tools on how to get the desired behavior.http://audrey1.sensualwriter.com/ - Diary of a webcam girlComment

It could have been worse... it ended up being just a pillow. In light of things, that's a fairly inexpensive replacement.
Those dogs need to burn off some energy, though. I wouldn't leave them alone unless they were dead tired from a long walk or some serious dog park playing time.Comment

I'm changing my mind on getting one next week. lol

Our yellow lab puppy did the same thing. We had just moved into our newly built home and she ate holes through the walls and decided to eat holes into the carpet. It was a nightmare!

our lab did the same 1 time when he was a pup. The next day I put Sambal on it and that was also the last time he did it lol

The wife came home and cleaned it all up after marching upstairs and asking if I knew about the mess downstairs. I responded, "What mess?"

She showed me the surveillance vids later on when I got up.
The wife and the dog groomer are responsible for that...er...style.
I blame it on the rain. The sliding glass door in that vid has a doggy door that allows them to go outside and romp around anytime they please. They have never gotten this wild before. Thus, Youtube. It could have been worse... it ended up being just a pillow. In light of things, that's a fairly inexpensive replacement.

Yup, by the time I got downstairs, the primary offenders were in the crate, courtesy of the wife. She let them out an hour or two later though.
The chihuahua mix is the youngest and is the most recent addition. He gets a bit wild every now and then, but he's been pretty good so far, except for yesterday.

Oh they hunt, for sure. Nothing that is smaller and slower than they are can survive in my backyard.
Snakes, lizards, bugs, spiders and even birds have all fallen victim to that pack.
I have a rescue pitbull that I've been nursing to health for the past 6-7 months at my other house (Found him collapsed in the street. He had Ehrlichiosis, a bad case of heartworm and Flea allergy dermatitis), but I can't keep him as he is not "dog-friendly". The person who had him before probably was training him to be a fighter. He is tough as nails.
Hopefully I can find him a good home once he gets a complete clean bill of health.
They get professionally groomed once a month. I don't pay for it (and the wife likes it), so...Last edited by eroticsexxx; 10-06-2010, 10:51 AM.

If those were my dogs, I'd be getting rid of them because clearly I can't manage them or give them the exercise and attention the need.
And even if I were a poodle, I'd be pissed about having to sit on that little pink couch.
So all in all, who can blame them.

I had a black lab pup that we put into the bathroom the first time we left the house. A few hours later she had eaten most of the floor (well, didn't eat it, but tore it up) and the bottom of the door.
Expensive lesson.
Luckily, I was about 13 so it didn't cost me anything.

I'd punt that little fucker like a football if i caught one of them doing that. If they were smart, they'd run away after bouncing off the wall or they'd probably get a second one...Comment

Nah, I think it was a matter of certain elements that made up the perfect 'storm' - brand new sofa pillow, no chew toys, it was rainy/wet outside, relatively new chihuahua mix pup...(in other words, boredom).
For the past two weeks, no problems at all.

You're doing it wrong.Yup, by the time I got downstairs, the primary offenders were in the crate, courtesy of the wife. She let them out an hour or two later though.

The crate is NOT a bad place and should NOT be used for punishment.Comment

I was just messin'. Until last year we had three dogs in the house too and it was nothing but a nightmare. Two are living with family members and one disappeared from our yard. Sure...I miss them, but our quality of life increase exponentially without them.
Now to find these fucking cats new homes.

I don't think this is a replacement for running them hard for some exercise to get out all that pent up energy. Either that or they need to be more confined.I blame it on the rain. The sliding glass door in that vid has a doggy door that allows them to go outside and romp around anytime they please.Comment

My spaniel went through a serious stage of doing a similar thing. She would scratch at the wall until she was digging into it. She took wall paper off and we just couldn't stop her. She just seemed to grow out of it one day but every now and then if she wants to piss me off she will go give it a few scratches before running into her cage.
My husband thought she was smelling something in the wall at that spot but whatever the reason it was annoying.
Don't get me started on the day she figured out she could unravel our living room carpet.Comment

did you see that puff of smoke "top left of the video" in the last ten seconds? dumb human encouraging bad behavior...
i might be wrong but thats what i see...Comment

-
That footage is from a surveillance cam. There is no way I would have encouraged that behavior in my presence.
The "smoke" you see is from air ionizers/purifiers.
There are two of them, on either side of the room. The one that you can see clearly on the right is in the shape of a dragon fountain.

I've started working with the chihuahua mix pup a bit more because he is the newest addition and he has so much energy.
I was surprised that the mini-poodle joined in with his little escapade. You can see that the rest of them aren't really into it like those two.

Boxers are nice. The wifes like smaller dogs though.Last edited by eroticsexxx; 10-21-2010, 08:11 AM.
