This post reminds me of a story of some kid I met.

A couple years ago I was working at a datacenter. One night this 19 year old comes in, does some work, and while he was waiting for someone to do something to a server we got to talking. Long story short, he worked on this 0-Day dump (not the same as torrent) helped managed it, found distributors, etc. Well, the dump had a fair amount of hardware and he was the closest to it physically, so he would often go in to do modifications. Turns out, the hardware was owned by the FBI and they used it as a honeypot to nab a bunch of people in an anti-piracy bust.

Not sure if it's the same. But, when people would rather risk legal action over a $10 movie ticket or $8 iTunes download, just offering a couple bucks to spill the beans "hey, let my admin jump on that server and monitor" seems reasonable.
