First of all...blame the parents. What parent in their right mind would let their 14 year old out of the house like that?
Next, it doesn't matter how old she LOOKS. It doesn't matter how old she ACTS. It doesn't even matter if she begged for it. IF that was in a jurisdiction where she is under the age of legal majority, that entire display is wrong. Morally, legally. Period.
Saying she looks old enough or acts of age doesn't make it right. Ignorance of the situation doesn't excuse you from the situation. There's a little known law on the books in Florida that makes it illegal for member's of the opposite sex to cohabitate if they aren't married. Silly, but it's a law. If the powers that be in Florida one day decided to ENFORCE that silly law, saying you didn't know will not excuse you from prosecution. The law is the law regardless of if you are personally ignorant of the law. So, her being underage is the only thing that matters. It is irrelevant if the singer KNEW she was underage.
It would suck for him and I honestly would feel bad for him due to the circumstances...but we have laws to protect children for a reason...even if the child has no desire to be protected. Make an excuse for one and you set an ugly precedence that would spiral out of control endangering all children everywhere.Comment
