    WTF is up with using Hotmail?

    I can understand this if you want to remain anonymous but if you are selling something (like content) or are running a reputable web-based business and are trying to establish yourself as a professional then why in the hell would you use a hotmail email addy instead of one from your own domain? This makes no sense to me. Throw me a freaking bone here people.

    I see this shit all they time...."Hey, hit me up at [email protected] and I can hook you up with a good deal."

              I was serious.. (but I made an edit to clarify my point).. most people don't notice what email address sent what, they just read the content and hit reply... If what I'm saying isn't true, do you think so many people would continue to use hotmail accounts?

                  This is true but I am talking about posting it on boards like this, not just spamming it in an email so they can hit reply without seeing the addy. I have some specific people in mind who post here but I did not want to point any fingers.

What is to stop me from representing another content provider and gaining clients by using a hotmail addy then running off with their money? If the addy matches the site then it is more than likely a legit offer if not then it is a crap shoot.

After changing all of my pages I COULD FIND and changing them to my yahoo email address the VIRUS I get in my 3 paid emails has gone to like 2 or 3 a week.....

                                                                                                                          my domain-based email has web-based features as well. so for traveling (without a computer - which is basically never), we can still access our email. many hosts offer this, so no real need for hotmail.

My domain email doesn't have the spam filter that yahoo has.

                                                                                                                                                              So if anybody wants to do business with me, they can email me at my [email protected] domain and it will be forwarded to my yahoo account. So when I reply, it's coming from my yahoo account. I don't see anything wrong or cheap looking about this.

If they prove themselves to me that they are not fuckwits, then and only then do they get my real email address.

At least I know that the domain I send it to belongs to the person who it is forwarded to. Once again though, this is not what I am talking about.

I use several e-mails, some are from my domains and some are from e-mail services. This way I know who is mailing me from where.
                                                                                                                                                                                      The whole thing of using a hotmail account is sort of like being on AOL. Makes me think that this person is a greenhorn, or is running a scam.

If it's not important enough to them to establish themselves as LEGIT instead of coming off looking like they're trying to rip off the world, which is exactly what those types of addys do for a business, then I will very happily take my business to a competitor that does give a shit.

It doesn't fly. You can remain perfectly anonymous with a domain addy that matches your business if you are serious about remaining anonymous, and spam must be filtered like everyone else filters it. Changing your fucking lame ass hotmail account every week and a half is not the answer.

                                                                                                                                                                                              If you can not see the benefit of using an e-mail address that not only helps to brand your business name, but also does not bounce half the time that it is even up, then I have to wonder what you are thinking about.

                                                                                                                                                                                                      that's different.... doing internal forwarding that no one else can see, for the sake of your own convenience is not only perfectly fine, but very smart. Like you said, it allows you to check your mail from anywhere. But using a hotmail account as a primary means of contact is just a dumb thing to do.
