FYI, i'm not a flamer so chill out a bit. please read post again more carefully.Excuse me.. you are talking about the most despised leadership in the western world and thinking they can bring stability to other countries???? DUH???
They are unqualified to boil an egg, can't even manage their own affairs and look after their own citizens.
They are also the source of instability in other countries - including decades of abuse and torture. Did you major in history???
I said the government, not the current administration, running smoothly could be beneficial. The sinking of the dollar is a perfect example of how things NOT running smoothly, can hurt others. Look beyond your own borders if you are not effected by the diminishing dollar.
The system of a democratic republic isn't a failure because of privatization of the govt, corruption, and moronic leaders that may have occurred over the past several decades. Allow me to quote myself, "What also distresses me is the complacent/ignorant attitudes" - Bdiddy. Which is the system which allows said corruption, etc to thrive.
English tip: comprehension can be defined as understanding the whole.
As a matter of fact I did and I have told you that before. Please cite instances (not flaming) and will agree if you're correct. They are also the source of instability in other countries - including decades of abuse and torture. Did you major in history???
However, when you have studied history as I have, you would KNOW that there are very few civilizations (dead or alive) whose hands are clean in that regard.
If you're say, a native american whose tribe is the Nez Perce, then I would allow that statement without any response and I apologize for any assumption to the contrary.

Fair enough Bdiddy - my tolerance level of human waste is nada hence the response.
Sure.. it's one of my main gripes that the level of fiscal incompetence has reduced the dollar to being a waste of time. There were many excellent opportunities, but they were washed down the drain - and at a fast rate.I said the government, not the current administration, running smoothly could be beneficial. The sinking of the dollar is a perfect example of how things NOT running smoothly, can hurt others. Look beyond your own borders if you are not effected by the diminishing dollar.
Mmmm... not a lot of comment on that - suspect some elements are good and some bad. Corruption is everywhere - not just in govt - it's a human trait :-) But in biz life, it's refreshing to deal with folks who are not corrupt and transparent in their biz conduct. Know one guy who recently turned down $2mill in "bribes" - gotta take a hat off to him!The system of a democratic republic isn't a failure because of privatization of the govt, corruption, and moronic leaders that may have occurred over the past several decades. Allow me to quote myself, "What also distresses me is the complacent/ignorant attitudes" - Bdiddy. Which is the system which allows said corruption, etc to thrive.
This refers to the role of the US govt in other nations with involvement in torture and whatever? OK... No.. we are not talking about the Native American - yet another story - but in more recent times. As a matter of fact I did and I have told you that before. Please cite instances (not flaming) and will agree if you're correct.
However, when you have studied history as I have, you would KNOW that there are very few civilizations (dead or alive) whose hands are clean in that regard.
OK.. Will cover a segment of history (it's far too long) - ask any surviving member families of the thousands who were killed or tortured in Chile. Ask them who trained their torturers and who watched on during torture sessions. This is all well-recorded and plenty examples on the net and not in dispute.
Check out an organization which was based in Panama, but thrown out and is now fully based at Fort Benning - Georgia. It was called the "School of the Americas", but changed it's name for obvious reasons to "WHINSEC" - or the "Western Hemisphere Institute for Security Cooperation" Sound grand and noble?
This organization was the element responsible for the training of torturers in other nations. Almost all dictators who subsequently became a problem, (particularly in South/Central America) to their citizens attended SOA. Their principal military officers also were trained in torture techniques by the US govt.
There is of course much more, from CIA involvement in killings and other noble acts you would expect from a Christian nation - everything from drugs trafficking to weapons support (btw.. this was at the same time they were locking kids up in the states for drugs offenses).
Unfortunately, that wealth of experience in torture is still continuing in several of these countries and (not got the figures for this year), but last year resulted in a considerable number of killings of young women by placing plastic bags over their heads and waiting for them to die - then dumping them at roadsides. A prime example is in Guatamala and the good news is that a group of US-trained torturers (put in to manage that country at the time) have recently been arrested for several of these offenses.
SOA was evicted from Panama some time ago now - but the inheritance left both in Panama and all of Latin/South America will not be forgotten.
More recently, the current administration attempted once again, to form a "law enforcement school" in Latin America to train others - but, wisely this kind offer was rejected. Some folks have had enough of the abuse of the US govt.
There is plenty documentation covering this subject - and this is only based on the South American region alone - we could go global, but pointless. You don't have to agree if it is correct or not - it's a fact of life and commonly known, but maybe not too popular on CNN USA or FOX.XXX TLD's - Another mosquito to swat.Comment

Know a US person here who - well, he now "cultivates his garden"
- but was involved in some of that historical stuff. He was trained at SOA and involved in meetings on borders with .. forget his name... the military guy in the center of the Iran Contra shit. Tho he worked at times for the US govt - he has a very bad attitude about em - says he would not trust em with anything - he was double-crossed several times. But he's totally "with" the US and in particular with US personnel who have not been recovered from previous "wars".
He still does odd jobs for govts, but really wants to know what the truth is before getting involved.XXX TLD's - Another mosquito to swat.Comment

This guy is still "working" - and even done a good job here (which never ever reaches the media) - but solved a few problems
Dunno why, but I keep ending up with either them or "govt officers" as friends - and got to say, they are the most loyal people I know - and great respect for the work they do which is often at high risk to themselves (and with the accompanying injuries). They sure deserve far more than they get in payment

I can totally understand the motivation of Bin Laden.
In the same way I can understand the motivation behind the killings in Iraq. (I mean US killing of Iraqis.)
But I support neither.
In fact I find both abhorrant.
But to think that they are terrorists and we are righteous is a matter of politics and degrees.

* What country is it where even the mainstream media admit that this country is in a state of hysteria while persecuting political dissidents?
* What country is it where the head of state asks for children to spy on their parents and parents to spy on their children to make sure they do not harbor unwanted political views?
* What country is it where authorities and the public declare publicly to fight everything that is deemed to be politically on the right?
* What country is it where the authorities declare that half of their population deserves to be ostracized for harboring political views?
* What country is it that is proud of conducting more than 10,000 criminal prosecutions against persons for having committed peaceful "thought crimes"?
* What is the country in the world with the second harshest censorship after China?
What country would that be???
The correct answer is:
Germany
That is indeed true.
Germany, BTW, actually had a real democracy for awhile after WWI but we and the rest of the west (to say nothing of the Russians) were none too pleased with the democratically elected party that took power there in 1933.
In retrospect what the Second World War victors (including the USA) insisted on in the post WWII years was pretty harsh, but understandable given the circumstances.
Still in all, that bit about German citizens not even being allowed to honor their war dead was (and remains) particularly harsh
