        The fact is that if you banned guns today and were somehow able to stop anyone on American soil from obtaining a new gun, there are so many in circulation that it would be many decades before they were confiscated or broke.

        And there is one other very important factor to this. Europe's anti-gun laws work because every country in the region has them. The criminals can't easily trade guns from country to country. However if you ban guns in the US, they still come in from Mexico along with the drugs and go directly into the hands of street gangs.

        Foreigners seem to think that Americans at all levels are at risk of being shot. That is sooooo wrong. Assuming you don't live in an area that is predominately black and Mexican (not trying to be racist, just stating a fact), you will probably go your entire life without hearing a gunshot in your neighborhood.

                                            If I got my math right, only one in ~23,000 people get murdered in the USA. Granted that is still higher than a lot of other places, like Japan, Switzerland and so on, but it still isn't bad and most of the violence is in pretty specific areas.

                                            Besides, you don't have to kill people in Japan, they all are committing suicide! Not surprisingly, the countries with high murder rates, have low suicide rates. LOL...

So it feels pretty safe when you have a fight at college for example, knowing that the other person will not be able to shoot you if a problem occurs. Ofcourse there will be some people with guns carrying arround, however, since it is illegal to have them you are still able to rely on the fact that the one carrying will be very carefull to use it.

These are not necessarily firearm offenses. Colombia has it's own different set of problems - ironically the source for a substantial number of firearm-related murders in Columbia happen to be mainly due to the US desire to snort powder in volume.

                                                                                                                                                            Firearms offenses in the US (not necessarily murders) are far beyond all western countries combined. Even nextdoor in Canada the murder rate by firearm is less than one fifth of the US. It's hardly a debate as to whether this is a problem - the US has had more "college incidents" in the last few decades than any country (forgetting the deaths which don't reach CNN headlines).

                                                                                                                                                            Bottom line - guns in the US are a major problem both to LE and the public - it has the highest ranking of gun offenses on the planet and much of these weapons are in the hands of the public - and the public, as in any country - are idiots.

                                                                                                                                                                                    well peeps that suck dicks for $$, make 20K per month, live in motels and can't pay their cell phone bills, don't have cars, get beat by their BF's, stay up 3-4 days at a time, etc have a life style a bit different than me . . not sure what kind of life you lead

                                                                                                                                                                                                Na... a bit different to that Wanton - not sure I've ever met any like that - they are all kinda stable (give or take) and often move on to other things - eg music biz or TV presentation etc.

I hope I never need it again, but if I do .. getting out of the sex biz asap . .

                                                                                                                                                                                                    LA is pretty heavily armed after the 'race' riots in the 90's anyway . . not sure if you live in an area with heavily armed non-whites watching the news every day looking for an excuse to burn the city, loot and murder like I do . . most of the 'white' peeps are armed now . . watching minority guys pull woman from cars and rape them will do that to ya . . . LA is definitely not a safe place . .
