Why is it wishful thinking? What is more free about The Netherlands than the United States?
For one, they don't have a government agency looking at gfy daily. The US is free, but it comes at a higher cost than most other places in this post 9/11 world.
Yes, but what does that question have anything to do with America not having freedoms? I don't get the "have you ever been to another country?" thing. Makes 0 sense.
That's about it, and the US has a thriving underground drug economy unlike any other in the world.
Actually, it is untrue that there aren't other countries that are at least on par with the freedoms held in the United States. I feel just as free in the UK as I did in the States. It is a myth that the USA is the 'free' and every other nation is full of people held in invisible cages.

To which countries have you been california, florida, washington, canada?

That is my point, I have no idea why people think the US is this big police state... If you came to the US from any other country, you wouldn't notice a difference in 'freedoms'.

yes, but you got people's backs up by saying without a doubt the USA was the most free...I get your point but it is all in wording.
What you don't understand, being a non American is that our 2nd Amendment is in place so that our freedoms can be defended against all enemies, foreign or domestic.
But keep on going on your America bashing, so that you can feel better about your country, while making your money on US dollars.
I just thought I would say 'pot' and 'hookers' before anybody else did.
Both illegal, yet still just as popular as in countries where's it's legal.
Banning guns would have the same effect. Normal citizens(or "gun nuts") wouldn't have any. But the psychos still would.
The problem has more to do with a violent sub culture, huge black markets, and local and federal authorities that seem more concerned with pulling small time thugs off the street to make their numbers look good then actually going after the big fish.

Oh, oh someone had a little critique on the good ol USA.....AMERICA HATER
AMERICA BASHER.....I make my money in Euros....in case you haven't noticed

Not everyone that disagrees with your gun laws is America bashing Anthony. That's probably the thing about the GFY populous that worst represents the American people to be honest. Every time someone says anything negative about the US, they're bashing them. Then the derogatory comments start, like how much better the US is than EVERYONE else.
I've spoken to MANY American's about a great many things, and thankfully they're not that arrogant in person.
Well, YOU are, but not many others that I've met. j/k
Don't fuck with my AK ... It's bad enough I can't legally grow a fucking plant in my backyard !
Seriously though, ... Some things need to change. For one thing, this fuck job in Virginia had a record of Mental Illness. This didn't popup in his "personality report" when he applied for the weapon. Even if it did I believe it wouldn't of mattered in the state of Virginia.
Some things are going to change ...
Red Flag = Mental Illness , Korean

I wouldn't compare drugs to guns. Drug prohibition is statistically a failure, and has been since its inception. On the other hand, if you look at states with assault weapon bans, etc, you notice that the gun crime is actually lower than the US.
I agree that possibly more bad guys would have guns than "normal citizens", but the murder rate overall would obviously decrease with strict gun laws.

How many trailer parks and ghetto's are in those places with the bans? That's part of the violent subculture I'm talking about. The people there aren't buying legal guns, they're buying stolen and black market imports off crack heads on the street for 1/5th the price.
guns aren't toys,
they're for family protection, hunting dangerous or delicious animals, and keeping the king of England out of your face!
if we didn't have these guns, the king of England could walk right in here and start pushing you around.
D'you want that? Huh? Do ya?
ok you fucking idiot, you do realise that their is no king of england

Basically, I'm saying that making gun laws actually lowers the murder rate. It is just a proven fact, and there are statistics that show it works. It isn't a futile law like drug laws, it actually works - why not just use it?
Yeah, where you can't have tabloids, and with all of the cameras everywhere and high taxes? Pretty free.
what are you talking about we cant have tabloids. oh my god you fucking idiot our most popular papers are all tabloids, yeah taxes are high but may i ask how exactly does that impeach our freedom, and their aint actually that many cctv cameras in the UK, no more than in america anyway

Well, you have those Byzantine slander and libel laws, and London has more cameras than any big city in the US. And high taxes = less economic freedom. In the US you get to keep more of your earnings; thus, more economic freedom (which I consider one of the most important).
this thread needed some comedy. Why dont you think a little before opening your vagina lips next time
Oh i apologise that i dont immerse my self in the simpsons and thus are am not able to immediately recognise a quote, i think its due to this condition i have called a life

Actually it does equal economic freedom. One of the reasons the US became the US from the British Empire was because of taxes. Having low taxes is one of the most important aspects of American politics/life, and it is probably one of the only reasons Republicans actually win elections.
And, regarding the slander/libel, if the US had those laws and I said what you said, people would be saying it is an "excuse". I don't see the slander/libel thing as a big deal, but I guarantee if America had that and the UK didn't - ALL of the trolls would be saying "America is a dictatorship".

It already is a dictatorship you have a different president than was voted for......twice!
Practically every democratic voted bill by the congres is getting VETO'd out.
You invade souvereighn states passing the UN of which you are a member and
even one of its founders.
You are being watched EVERY move you make under the excuse of anti terror acts
Your media is almost totally goverment controlled
Need more?

The President of the United States was voted in legally, by the Supreme Court of the United States. It wasn't a perfect election, but it was the best that could've been done with the close vote count situation.
The Democrats bills getting vetoed is just part of the Constitution, it is called checks and balances.
Other countries helped the US invade Afghanistan and Iraq. I think the Iraq War is a complete waste and one of the lowest points in American history, but that wasn't up to the people.
No one is watching me do anything, those anti-terror laws are pretty bad, but we still do have the Constitution and court system. People just seem to think it is this big government spyglass, when it isn't.
Regarding the media, it is pretty bad, but that is why we have the internet and databases to do research.
