that's it. to expand, losing weight is about taking in less cals than you burn. atkins and ultra low carb diets add the ketosis, as a result of no carbs.
bryan, if you are exercising hard and consistently, i would suggest going 1-2 weeks ultra low carb and see how it works for you. the absolute best way to do it all is to count cals and write it all down, sucky but effective.
