Chief Constables in England and Wales are deciding whether they should fast-track black and Asian people into jobs in the police.
They say so-called "affirmative action" will make forces more representative but others say it's totally unfair.
At the moment, ethnic minorities make up 3.7% of police in England and Wales. The government's set a target of seven per cent by 2009.

This is already happening in the police!! My white friend recently applied to join GMP, he didn't get in even though he scored high enough in the tests! So, to meet the recruitment percentage targets set by the Home Office, they reduce the number of white officers, so the percentage of ethnic minorities officers recruits rises.
Never heard such nonesense. This country is going bonkers. We taking the idea of minority groups to an extreme. Do we see other countries giving special treatment to different skin colours? People should get into the police because they work hard, are honest, reliable and have good morals. Not because they are in anyway physically different!
I think positive discrimination is racist. Its not fair to be fast tracked because of you ethnic backround. The person most suited should get the job, whether they are in the ethnic minority or not. Its as simple as that.
Im sorry but i believe this is totally unfair what is happening to this country! Everything these days is to do with racism and supporting black and ethnic minorities but the point is they are not minorities anymore white people are the smaller race. We cant do anything to offend any body any more but this is taking it too far! its just crazy
No why should they be fast tracked just because of their skin colour? If they have the skills to get in the police force then they will and they should go through all the same protocol/procedure everybody else has to... ethnic minorities make up 3.7% of police?

I have no idea why we bend over fucking backwards here for anyone who isn't white.
