That is craaazy !:P I have two pit bulls and one of them grew out of this habit after she turned 1 the other one still does it to his stuffed toys.
I'd say they need to be crated, just make sure you dont send them in the crate yelling at them, crate should be their safe happy place. First put their crates somewhere where they can see you during the day so they get used to being in if they arent already. So when you leave them alone they wont do any damage this way, also you can get those doggy gates and keep them in an area of the house where they cant go crazy on pillows, etc.
If they do this when you are around as well then maybe some obedience classes that would give you some tools on how to get the desired behavior.
