So you stated a paysite, what next?

Ok, so let's say you started your own paysite, it is actually 2-3 sites grouped together where you offer access to all with one membership. You shot all your own original content, and now you hit the switch and go live. What next to get some traffic?

Lol, I know that a good solid affiliate program is a must, and we will be rolling one out 3 months or so after we go live, after we work out the kinks and really get things smooth. At first we might be looking to get some really strong affiliate webmasters and see how that goes, which would be a win-win for both sides since this is original content and not posted all over the net already. But before I even get to that, if you were doing this, what would be the top things you would do to generate meaningful traffic?

Yeah i know, a total newb question, sorry about that! This site has been a great help though, and I am trying to learn as much as I can.

For a pay site I would recommend daily submissions to a TGP using a script like Chameleon Submitter. I would also suggest listing on toplists that support your niche. Link Lists are good, but personally I think frequently submitting to link lists is labor intensive. Monitor your Alexa rating and do banner exchanges with sites that have comparable or better ratings than yours!

I don't know what kind of content you are selling but it's always a good idea to know where on the WWW potential customers for this particular niche are hanging out (forums, blogs, groups, etc.). That's how I did it, and that's how I got around very well for many years without even having an affiliate program. You need to know your niche, though, or you won't make ANY money. Beside affiliates, building backlinks for search engine rankings is a good idea too.
