The freedom of speech is a powerful privlege that allows americans to be entitled to an opinoin. Where the ambiguity arises is if the opinion is 'attacking' and is threatening to one's livelihood.

Having said that, Rosie's comments can be viewed as 'unsubstantial' or 'inaccurate' but she is not an expert and her role is to sell 'television ratings'. I think most academics or anyone with understands to be critical of the world, would attest that she is a media mogul that has the power to influence, in turn sell ratings and be controversial is historically a public relations tools. (Before we 'cast stones' we know sex sells. So 'controversial' is in the eye of the beholder.)

If you want social impact or social justice, you question the advertisers and their values towards supporting the show TV Show 'The View' - not necessairily Rosie. If Corporate Coca Cola advertises with the 'The View', then ultimately their is accountibility in supporting the claims or views expressed by the tv show. PR is essential to companies and if there was enough negative press, I am confident all advertisers would rethink their advertising investment. With out commericals and advertisers, Rosie would not have job to make shameless accusations or any other media mogul speaking ignorance.

This maybe a utopic vision of engaging the masses of the private sector to fight the evils of opinionated people in the media. At the end of the day, those who are at the 'grind' day to day need escapism and it is 'controversy' that keeps 'water cooler talk' and irrlevant business threads on GFY going. Before we cast a second stone, sometime you need to look in the mirror for why things are the way they are. We have the option to turn on the TV and we have the option to buy coca cola.

Just my opinion....any I am certainly entitled to it. But again, you took the time to read my post and that action alone is a beautiful thing that we take for granted.

        funny name for a blog
I liked how Fox news prtrayed Rosie as being retarded whist they pretend to be a serious news organization.
Rosi should be allowed to publicly question anyone she wants to. She shouldnt be allowed to cast blame but she can certainly ask questions. If she won't ask the questions who will?

Awesome this preoccupation with people who don't matter

They only reason they are given a voice is to pander to the masses at the lowest possible production cost and attract "controversy" sufficient enough to have advertisers interested.

Whether it be O'Donnell, that human cadaver ... hell, dunno his name - the one who was suspended or O'Reilly - they matter little to anyone, other than the idiots who give them attention.

It's a business where "free speech" was not a consideration on the biz model.
