    So I joined Suicide Girls ...

    Actually ... I bought Perrie (TwistedGirl) one ... she loves Suicide Girls. And I thought, fuck it, I'll buy one too :P

    So we both have accounts.

    Ok, firstly... it's not a straight ahead softporn site... it's a massive community. It has private profiles that other members can speak to you with ... almost like MySpace, but 10 times better because it has less allowance to the user to fuck their profile up ... it has image albums per user too. When you look at a SG's images, it pops up a viewer that is also used when the normal members have images... quite nice.

    Also, it's got discussion forums etc.

    And of course, over 1000 girls.

    Video... images... etc.

    Some people dislike the concept behind it ... and until now, I was not really sure. But... I actually think it's great.

    Now that I have real experience with it... It rules

    And Perrie is happy too So that's all that matters

                                                          To be honest, if you've ever used the site, you'll know, it's far from porn. It's much more alternative erotica which is a different thing really. It's just nudes at it's most extreme. In this day and age, nudes can happily, if marketed right, be mainstream.

                                                          Hell, the Suicide Girls burlesque show just went on tour with Guns N' Roses last year.

                                                          So I actually don't see why they'd wanna be associated with the adult industry officially.

                                                          And I also don't see why you say "fuck em" because of it...

                                                          I like the site, and I like the concept. And I'm not a webmaster, so I can appreciate it from just one point of view instead of worrying about making any $$$ from it :P

While I'm no content producer, I'm pretty sure that's above industry standard. If the set is shot by an official SG photographer, the photographer also gets either $200 or $300.

                                                                                      The contract has since been updated. And it doesn't say that they can't work for anyone else, they simply can't work for competitors. Many SGs model on the site for other softcore/non-nude/mainstream sites. Not only that, many of them sell prints from other photographers through their SG journals. On top of that, they also sell loads of other goods and services through the site (for example, an SG in Vancouver makes great money selling synthetic dreads to other SGs and members).

                                                                                      The site is actually down at the moment since they're in the process of adding a few new features as well as making modifications to the design/layout.

I wouldn't call them too model friendly considering once the sued a girl for working for GG, got a default judgement then tried to get a lien against her house...real classy. GG assisted her to get this overturned

Most of the sets get declined anyway for not being whatever it is that they want. Sometimes no reason is given or they aren't pink enough or whatever it is that they want. I know this first hand as I know a shooter who has submitted several times, mostly accepted and sometimes declined. $500 to the model and what does the photographer get? Answer: a by-line. They'd be lucky to get two sets up/year as they are so backlogged, they cant approve the sets fast enough anyway. Most of the models are retarded too, I've tried to work with a few and they are mostly headcases. Probably some good apples in the bunch, but if I find out they are SG girls, I give the work to someone else.

                                                                                                                                                                  Loads of models are headcases, not just SGs. And official photographers get paid for the sets they shoot, even if the sets are rejected. They also often get travel expenses comped. A friend of mine shoots for SG for a living, which is more than a byline. If you're not an official photographer, you should be charging your models anyways.

                                                                                                                                                                  As for the contracts and compensation; the majority of SGs are not doing it for the money. If you look through the group of hopeful SGs, you'll see that the most of them attribute something special to being an SG, as if it was a prestigious title or something (which I think is retarded, personally). Loads of them would forgo payment if it meant they'd become SGs.

                                                                                                                                                                  Those who sought a modeling career outside the site and were subsequently sued definitely got a shitty deal. While I don't know the full details and I've heard loads of bullshit from both sides, the general consensus all around is that the whole situation was blown absurdly out of proportion by the people behind SG. Lawsuits are not a good way to win people over.

                                                                                                                                                                  I'm not saying that the SG crew are angels or that the site has a spotless track record. I'm just saying that there are two sides to every coin.
