    Whats up with all these $75 days. How...

    How exactly are companies making profit will all these $75 and $100 days. I understand that it a way of attracting webmasters to their program, but aren't they ultimately the looser? Another problem in my mind about these "special" days is: aren't the webmasters going to have the tendency to cheat or use somekind of methods to increase their signups besides regular old promotion. And the last 2 question : 1. When does a company deside that they are going to promote such an event; is it when they see that their competition is doing it or when they have reached a growth stagnation or when they just want to give out free money? 2. Have there been any known instances where a company promoting such a day went bankrupt?

            It's pretty straight forward. Topbucks decided to have an instantaneous $70 payout day because they are having a real bad fucking month... Think about it? Why else would they decide at the end of the month to do this? Hmmmm... To stimulate sales and hopefully get some good recurring going to cover the $70 payouts... Plus get some new people in the door.

            ARS is doing a similar thing but in my opinion they are doing this to keep the masses in check as they are having people screaming at them for their stats program as of late.

            All I can say is that my stats with Topbucks have gone to hell in a handbasket. 0:4200 in the past two weeks... And ARS ain't much better...

                $75.00 days is another way of warning webmasters that the shaver got turned up to HIGH.

                  Thats the question I forgot to ask or really didn't know how to. Are programs more likely to shave sign ups in order to recoupe some of their losses? If so, is their goal to minimize the payment to what it regularly is or is it to minimize the payment period?

                      they make a big profit off the regular sign-ups every day of the year, they probably dont make a profit or make very little off these 75/su days. they can afford it

                        Actually, we are having $75 day TODAY to give webmasters a reason to try out our program.... Webmasters usually need a good reason to join a new program and/or to change their links and these special signup days COULD convince them to do it...

                              Not that I've ever gotten a sign up from them after throwing a test bucket of traffic their way.

                                Intergal was actually one of the highest paying sponsors on The Daily Dirt for a long time but I had to give them a rest because all of our readers had seen them so much. They'll be back up in a month or two. When you signup for Intergal be sure to use the $40 per signup/ 2 cents a unique program. Any other program of theirs that I have sent traffic to didnt perform.

                                    Doesn't it make total sense to have a $75 day and shave that day. That way all the people that send traffic that day see that your program converts for shit and never uses you again.
                                    </sarcasm>

                                    It is in NOBODY's interest for a program to shave, especially on a day when the 'spotlight' is on that program. I created the $75 day almost 3 years ago to give people a reason to try ARS. All I can say is, it works, and it has since been has been used by more programs than I can count.

                                    It gives an incentive for people to use your program. Truthfully it would be better for a program to credit MORE sign ups than a webmaster earns so they feel you are a worthy sponsor, rather than credit less.

                                    On another note of the negative sediments everyone has about 'shaving' - an intelligent individual can easily figure out that a webmaster is going to use the program that makes them the most money. It doesn't matter if a program pays $25 and a webmaster converts at 1:200 or a program pays $50 and converts at 1:400 in terms of total revenue. Shaving is pointless. Webmasters will use (if they are smart) what makes them the most money. Therefore it would be pointless to try to pay more and shave. Its really stupid. However, if you can afford to pay high dollar and convert really well, webmasters will use you. It does take good marketing for a program to get big, but it also takes making the webmasters to participate good return on their traffic.

                                    To drive more traffic to our program and thank our webmasters who have helped us become what we are we are paying a 10% Payout Bonus the entire month of May and having a $75 day on May 24th...

                                            I think the article has a valid point. My best converting (by a huge amount) niche sponsor is still YNP. There can be only 2 reasons for this, firstly the tour isn't over exposed as it's either 100% my design or their 'standard' tours with changes. Secondly and I think most importantly when they leave my site they go straight to the signup page, that way glitches in the tracking be it cookies or fucked software (ifreinds is a good example) don't come into play.

                                            I don't believe true shaving is quite as prevelant as people make out although it obviously does happen. More usually the reason is probably shagged tracking software. Still, we had this debate a little while ago and the bottom line is how much $ a sponsor makes you. If they make you more than others then it's all fairly irrelevant. If they make less move on to someone else.
                                            Ignorance is never bliss.
