Jesse Jackson does have quite the history of making anti-semetic remarks. I don't really care what he does, but isn't it a little funny for him to flip out about black comments while making Jewish comments?Vacares - Web Hosting, Domains, O365, Security & More - Paxum and BTC Accepted

i know most of the people commenting have never seen or heard the show. its not a racist thing on there, they make fun of everyone all the timeComment
-
Exactly. I've never seen the show but from what I've heard from people who HAVE, it isn't right to come along and pick out one "racial" comment amongst many simply because it fits a political agenda (i.e. Jesse Jackson.)Vacares - Web Hosting, Domains, O365, Security & More - Paxum and BTC Accepted

I heard the "Hymie Town" thing...also the "chocolate city" thing which seems like the same to me. Hymie is a Jewish name and not a slur.
So nobody said anything about "chocolate city". Hmmmmm?
I guess he can say that because he's black.
So what are the other "history of anti-semetic" things?

Here's a small snippet, though maybe not totally anti-semetic I don't think he'll be celebrating Hanukkah anytime soon:
Jackson has been criticized for some of the remarks he has made about Jews and Jewish issues: that Nixon was less attentive to poverty in the U.S. because "four out of five [of Nixon's top advisors] are German Jews and their priorities are on Europe and Asia"; that he was "sick and tired of hearing about the Holocaust"; that there are "very few Jewish reporters that have the capacity to be objective about Arab affairs"; [7] In addition Rev. Jackson had referred to Jews as "Hymies" and to New York City as "Hymietown" in January 1984 during a conversation with Washington Post reporter, Milton Coleman. [8].
I love how this thread has gone from a basketball team. To Iran. To Jesse Jackson. Let's get some Jerry Falwell in next.Vacares - Web Hosting, Domains, O365, Security & More - Paxum and BTC Accepted

Well all of that is true, Nixon was an arrogant, paranoid prick.
and Jews hate Arabs.
For my taste, Jesse, AL, Luis ...they all go overboard sometimes.
But that's them. They are political.
It's not always my opinion, nor are they speaking for all black people, but everyone should be held for remarks that are in direct conflict with civil rights, when speaking publicly.
Not a private Klan rally. (that's different, they have a constitutional right)
but on MSNBC, dude, you are just wrong.Comment

OK,Nixon was less attentive to poverty in the U.S. because "four out of five [of Nixon's top advisors] are German Jews and their priorities are on Europe and Asia"; that he was "sick and tired of hearing about the Holocaust"; that there are "very few Jewish reporters that have the capacity to be objective about Arab affairs.
So, a person must hate Jews if they think enough movies about the holocaust have been made.
Nixon really did care about poverty and Vietnam wasn't on his mind.
And Jews do not aggressively support Israel in their reporting.
I've been educated...thanks.

Wait so let me get this straight, its ok for Jesse Jackson to denigrate Jews in a public interview for a newspaper and only issue an apology much later but if Don Imus says "nappy headed hoes" when making a joke about a rough and tumble black womens basketball team on the radio and then apologize immediately its not ok and he should lose his job?Well all of that is true, Nixon was an arrogant, paranoid prick. and Jews hate Arabs. No not at all! What Jesse said was completely out of line. But there was no place to be fired from, he was speaking in an interview.
IMUS had a job. He did it on the job.Comment

No shit. that's the chance you take when you hire a loud mouth.
He's been on the radio since Bob Barker got the first Price right, if he hasn't banked up by now, he was never going to.
His people are probably talking to XM right now.Comment

So does Stern, he did it for YEARS on regular air waves. So we can count on your vote for censorship. When they come for your website and try to censor you dont say we didnt tell you so.Comment

I think enough movies about segregation have been made and I'm tired of banks/mail being closed on MLK Day. I'm also sick of "poor blacks" using racism, discrimination, and the white man as a crutch and excuse for their failures.
What would happen if I made that statement publicly? What would happen to any white politician if they made that statement? They would be SLAUGHTERED.Vacares - Web Hosting, Domains, O365, Security & More - Paxum and BTC Accepted

You can't compare this to censorship.
Imus getting put on ice is the same as a TGP owner deleting a gallery with banned words in it. People can post their bullshit to their own site, but you don't have to post it on your site.
Let Imus build a web site and say all the shit he wants; but don't expect some radio station to foot the bill for his "free speech" which cost 7 million dollars a year.

Well, I don't consider MLK day to be just for Blacks.
The civil rights act of 1964(MLK pushed it) is for everybody and women should know that it's the act that gave them the right to get their jobs back after maternity leave. Before this, women were basically fired for getting pregnant.

Well said, and you beat me too it. Amazing how much people don't know about their own history, and how quick they are to blame.Well, I don't consider MLK day to be just for Blacks.

MLK would have taken a bullet for you. He wasn't about race, he was about right and wrong.Comment

What year are you living in? You sound like a 1950's white american male. Typical.I think enough movies about segregation have been made and I'm tired of banks/mail being closed on MLK Day. When injustice is done, people should bitch, and I am sorry, but the world is not a nice place and black people still get discriminated against, and unarmed men are still shot by police officers.
You can change it around to "poor black", but the reality of the situation is, all thought the majority of blacks in America live in peace and harmony but in some instances are not treated fairly.
Nor are Mexicans, Asian Americans, Women, Arab Americans, the list goes on.
So if you are tired of hearing it, then stop turning your head the other way when you see it happen, and don't try and turn injustice into something that doesn't affect you, or your mother, your sister, or your kids.
You do not live on an island. and don't get me started on your "crutch crap", take your insecurities somewhere else.Last edited by EBORG9; 04-09-2007, 09:06 PM.Comment

Another ignorant statement. I don't know what nationality you are, but at the very least, your mother, and grandmother benefited from the civil rights struggle of the 50's and 60's. It was about equality for all Americans, and at the time, women, your mother included, were not treated equally. But the only racist thing you could think of is that MLK is a "Black" day so you could have something negative to say.
You are an idiot!Last edited by EBORG9; 04-09-2007, 09:10 PM.Comment

Paddy's Day isn't a federal holiday, even so I don't do a lot of drinking period so I wouldn't really care if it was for the Irish. I don't really care if MLK is for black people lol, I believe it is and that is fine. He did a lot for black people (and women) but I'll always see it more as a black day. The only beef I have with it at all is that I don't believe it should be a federal holiday.
