RED5 Flash Webcam Chat Software For Sale - $400

I've recently bought a RED5 edition of FlashComs Community Video Chat + Video Communicator for $ 449.00 and am selling it for $400.

RED5 is an free opensource alternative to the very expensive Flash Media Server.

red5 is FAR from being production ready, don't waste your time/money unless you don't mind waiting a few years for their stuff to get stable.

yep I agree, I've been following the red5 thing for a few months now..seems to have alot of promise, just too early in the game yet.

RED5 works very well for me, exept for occasional crashes requiring a reboot of RED5.

It will save you the costs of an FMS licence or FMS hosting so its very nice to start with ;)

1000+ users are no problem.

hey there,

are you able to control the max number of docked video windows that a user can see while in chat?

are there any "quirks" in the software that you can share with us?

i use userplane on a community site, and would love to migrate away from them.

Hi!

Yes, a lot is configurable, such as the maximum amount of simultanious video streams and the max (free) time to watch video for guests after which they would need to register for a premium account.

Flashcoms.com is very advanced and offers a lot of possibilities.

Red5 is NOT nearly ready. I had it on my server for weeks in testing... Sure it works ok if your members are using a windows based browser, but if they are on a MAC or anything else it becomes unusable. Do a little research and you'll find that this in a known issue.

Well, its perfect to start with if you want to run a webcam chat as you will save the very expensive FMS license or hosting costs and it does work very well for most users.

Mac users can be adviced to install IE.

We are in a firm that is in active commercial development w/ Red 5. It holds a lot of promise; but unless you are an excellent JAVA programmer yourself and can enhance/debug Red 5 ahead of the Red 5 community....

....then unfortunately Red 5 (public release) is a good year away from being a decent commercial-grade alternative....and even then it needs enhancement.

No... It does NOT matter what browser users of Mac, Linux or any OS use. I have tested as far as I know everyone of them. Basically, the stream will start, after a 20 sec or so buffer, then play for 2-3 seconds, then rebuffer for another 20 seconds etc... totally unusable.

Flashcoms.com will take care of everything, and if you're with a good host like Prohosters.com everything will be installed within just 1 hour.

The software enables for paid memberships (e.g. 1 hour free, then x USD per hour/day/week etc.) and really works perfectly exept from crashes from time to time if your server doesn't have enaufh resources available.
