Shit... So the Britts are on it, because the three main characters of the movie have been released, and are now in England, free.
I suppose you saw the " fake propaganda " ...
So happens I did... It is playing on premium channels, well maybe not in the USA...
BTW, what is fake is WMD, liberation, war on terror, link to Al-Quaeda, 15 minutes drome, Nigeria yellow cake , ....The Road to Guantánamo focuses on the Tipton Three, a trio of British Muslims who were held in Guantanamo Bay for two years until they were released without charge
n 2001, four Pakistani Britons, Ruhal Ahmed, Asif Iqbal and Shafiq Rasul and another friend, Monir, travel to Pakistan for a wedding and in a urge of idealism, decide to see the situation of war torn Afganistan which is being bombed by the American forces in retaliation for the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Once there, with the loss of Monir in the wartime chaos, they are captured by Northern Alliance fighters. They are then handed them over the American forces who transport them to the prison camps at the Guantanamo Bay base in Cuba. What follows is three years of relentless imprisonment, interrogations and torture to make them submit to blatantly wrong confessions to being terrorists. In the midst of this abuse, the three struggle to keep their spirits up in that face of this grave injustice.
I know that Asspimple is stoopid ... As he says, it is a FACT !
But I can't figure out how he can breathe or type , at the same time ....Comment

It was the British and French who chopped up the Middle East following World War I. It wasn't their country then, its not their country now -- Iraq or Iran. We aren't bothered sticking people in a prison for years for things even we aren't sure about, Iran released these guys after a few weeks. Not that big of a deal.Comment

Iraq gave the British permission to patrol their waters, Iran went into IRAQI waters and kidnapped British soldiers. I would say that is a HUGE deal, that would be like US soldiers going into Iranian waters and kidnapping Iranians there. It was the British and French who chopped up the Middle East following World War I. Channel 4 have produced a substantial volume of good material over the years covering a wide range of subjects. Tho "Road to Gitmo" was not a documentary, but an account of the experiences of the lead participants and taken from other testimony - Channel 4 appear to concentrate on "actual" documentary content.
I know one guy who used to be based in their edit suites in Central London - that place was bugged by UK intell more often than we had breakfasts
Some of the subject matter was "sensitive" to ongoing issues within government - and ended up in courts where the govt usually lost.
Other stuff may not be "senstive" but covers a range of issues which it is considered a good idea to highlight. One matter was the supplying of arms to the Jakarta regime. These were then used to kill off 1000's of innocent people. A couple of ladies (school teachers) bust into an air base in the UK and smashed the control panels of a number of aircraft which were due for delivery to Jakarta. They were subsequently charged with causing damage worth "zillions" etc and ended up in court.
Their defense council were approached by a couple of journalists and Channel 4 people who had hands-on experience of these killings and also documentary footage of several events.
The judge considered this filmed content be allowed to be introduced at their trial. When they jury saw what was actually being done with these aircraft - they were horrified and refused to find the defendants guilty of any offense.
The govt had their right of appeal - but sensibly declined to use that - there was little basis on which they could appeal the verdict and more likely to be condemned further.
Interesting where Channel 4 footage ends up *lol*
PS And na... ask any real journalist on international issues if his work ever gets published in the US - the answer is *very rarely*.Last edited by Webby; 04-06-2007, 07:33 PM.XXX TLD's - Another mosquito to swat.Comment

It is interesting from the discussion how much right wing myths are belived in the US that even the most right wing newspaper in europe dare not print for being laughed out of busines. Also the suppression of information common in the world but not in the states. The kidnapping transportation and torture by 3rd countyries under CIA supervision.
The use of torture by America is weel documented and has long history. America worked with and taught torture techniques to Latin American Juntas... Also supported terrorist groups the Contras and long history of terror against Cuba.
Most countries know well how America has overthrown popular govt as in Iran and installed their "friendly" Shah with his famous torture police. Would you like a country that did that to you?
Even in Britain the CIA funded political parties that were anti-communist. It poured money into Poland Bulgaria Chili Ukraine to get the election of parties pro west.
How would you feel in Russia was pouring money into the US to get a pro Russia party elected. (Illegal under American law I am told )
Lets remember that this Brits whether they were in Iranian waters or Iraqy one place they were not is in British waters, and that is the only place they had a right to be!Comment

Dont worry - there are still 65-70% of us in the US who think rationally and despise people that dont have the mental capacity to understand world politics like Bush and Splum - but unfortunately, they are the outspoken people that the newspapers and TV give a platform to given the medias' ties to AIPAC and PNAC.
Fortunately, these little people have a way of talking themselves out of the way over time - we just have to wait till they all go away returning sensibility and responsibility to the US way of life - hopefully it will happen before the idiots in power and their little uneducated supporters do something really stupid and destroy the entire global populationComment

Did they make them get naked and form an ass pyramid like in Gitmo? Any electrodes on their testicles or nipples?http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/liv...=1766&ito=1490
They were blindfolded and subjected to interrogation and isolation.
They were told they faced seven years in prison if they did not 'confess'.
Iranians entered Iraqi waters deliberately to detain them.
We were 1.7 nautical miles away from Iranian waters.
We were under psychological pressure and mind games.
The female hostage was isolated in a cell away from the rest of the crew.
Basically these hostages were taken illegally from international waters by people they were not at war with and tortured.
All you terrorist appeasers need to slap yourselves and wake the fuck up about the Iranians. There were many on this board who claimed the British were in the wrong and it was Irans right to take these soldiers hostage.

being blindfolded and pushed against a wall when you are a captured enemy combatant isnt exactly torture. seperating female and male detaineeds is also perfectly normal. furthremore it is my understanding that the proper border between iraq and iran is not really agreed upon by both sides and set in stone, so where the brits and iraqis might call the border. the iranians might think its a few clicks this way or that. this is war people, when those people put on thier uniform every morning they knew this was a possibility, dont join the army if you cant hang. its simple.Comment

Oddly Jane... other countries trade with Cuba. The have no problem "allowing" their citizens to visit that country either. The only country which as a problem with Cuba is the US.
That said, agree - there are fundamental obvious problems with the Castro regime which are not "agreeable" to many nations. But.. we can moan about almost any country - at least they don't run torture camps.XXX TLD's - Another mosquito to swat.Comment

BTW.. Interesting you may have originated from Cuba.... agree, it's not easy getting a Cuban national out of the country and secured elsewhere. 1492 Christopher Columbus lands in Cuba and claims the island for Spain. (Spain rules Cuba for the next 400 years.)
1868-78 Cuban revolutionaries fight Spanish rule in the Ten Years? War. Spain retains control but promises reforms.
1895 Cubans again revolt against Spanish rule, and a second war of independence begins.
1898 The U.S. joins Cuba in its war after the U.S. battleship Maine is blown up in Havana harbor. The U.S. and the Cuban rebels defeat Spain in the Spanish-American War (known in Cuba as the ?Spanish-Cuban American War?). Spain gives up all claims to Cuba.
1898-1902 A U.S. military government controls Cuba.
1901 Cuba adopts a constitution that includes a set of provisions called the Platt Amendment. The amendment allows the U.S. to intervene in Cuban affairs.
1902 Tomás Estrada Palma becomes the first president of the Republic of Cuba.
1903 Under a treaty with Cuba, the U.S. receives a permanent lease on Guantánamo Bay and begins to build a large naval base there.
1906 U.S. troops return to Cuba, and a government headed by American Charles E. Magoon rules Cuba until 1909.
1933 A revolutionary group led by Fulgencio Batista y ZaldÃvar (?Batista?) takes control of the government.
1934 The U.S. and Cuba sign a treaty that cancels the Platt Amendment. International investments in Cuba expand during the 1940s and 1950s.
1959 Fidel Castro?s forces overthrow Batista?s government, and Castro becomes the ruler of Cuba.
1961 Fidel Castro declares Cuba a Communist country. Cuban exiles sponsored by the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) invade Cuba at the Bay of Pigs and are quickly defeated by Castro?s army.
1962 U.S. begins a trade embargo: It becomes illegal for U.S. citizens to conduct business with Cuba or travel there.
One of the most serious incidents of the Cold War, the Cuban missile crisis, occurs in October when the U.S. learns that the Soviet Union has secretly installed missiles in Cuba. The Soviet Union agrees to U.S. demands that it remove its missiles and dismantle the remaining missile bases.
1976 Cuba adopts a new constitution that establishes the Communist Party as the leading authority in the government and society.
1980 More than 125,000 Cubans move legally to the U.S. This event becomes known as the Mariel boat lift because the refugees leave from the Cuban port of Mariel.
1991 The Soviet Union and its Communist government are dissolved. Cuba loses its most important source of aid, and its economy suffers greatly.
1993 Cuba institutes economic reforms that allow some workers to start private businesses.
1994 After another large wave of immigration, Cuba and the U.S. reach an immigration agreement. The U.S. will admit at least 20,000 Cuban immigrants annually. In return, Cuba pledges to do more to prevent illegal departures.
Suggesting kill 'em if they try to leave Cuba.. lol nawh! But U.S. is not the only country just because you don't see any other country do that (prolly cos cubans would rather go to the Biggest Land Of Opportunity like any other wetbags than any other country) otherwise Cubans take refuge in MANY other countries as well but they desire most to come to U.S. since they know they'd be given legal immigrant status much more easily than any other country which is kind of an open invitation.
