How far should hosting companies go to stop the cheating/exploits? webair/reflected

Galleries are being "spammed" via IPs that belong to Reflected Net.

The sites are hosted at Webair and Reflected.

They redirect to a site that's hosted in the Czech republic which contains the codec exploits.

So technically, everything is "legal" for the "US" based sites etc.

hosting companies should be ahead of this, not cleaning up after it

every hosting account should be screened and all domains should be scanned, period

this is a new day and age, cheaters are getting smarter and stronger, we need to stop them before they even start

You had sites that were hacked/infected?
How long had they been compromised before you noticed?

I'm going to have to disagree, the hosting company's job is to provide hosting, not police their clients... What laws are being broken? The "cheating" is from the point of the TGP that the gallery is being submitted to, no?

If my host started screening all my domains (that would be tricky as my box is unmanaged) and telling me what I could and could not host I'd change companies.

Most hosting companies don't allow "illegal" activities (viruses, warez etc. etc. etc.) on their networks. In this case their networks are being used for those activities. It may be true that the "content" isn't hosted there, but the customer is using their services for an illegal activity.
