    CP Report update

    Hey guys,

Remember the e-mail I received friday with links to CP?

    http://bbs.gofuckyourself.com/showth...threadid=58298

Well, I reported it to the authorities and received feedback this morning.

Thank you very much for your report to the Internet Watch Foundation.

The website linked to from the email specified in your report has been assessed to be potentially illegal under the UK Protection Of Children Act. We have therefore notified details of the content and its origins to the National Criminal Intelligence Service (NCIS).

NCIS will disseminate these details to the relevant international law enforcement agency via Interpol. Please see http://www.iwf.org.uk/hotline/whathappens.htm for more information on how your report is processed.

Additionally if the country where the content is hosted operates a hotline, we will also notify them. More details are available at http://www.inhope.org

With regard to unsolicited email it may be helpful to contact your Internet Service Provider (ISP) for advice on their anti-Spam (unsolicited email) policies and also for you to consider using software to filter incoming mail. A good site to look at is: http://www.getnetwise.org/tools where you will find details of the various types of software, some of which can be downloaded for free. If you click on the "Tools for Families" icon, you can fill in a questionnaire designed to help identify the most suitable software for your needs.

More information on Spam is available at the UK Internet Service Providers Association website at http://www.ispa.org.uk/html/consumer_spam.htm

If there is a persistent e-mailer then it is also possible to block some email addresses. Check the pull down menus on your software. It is usually best not to respond to any icons within an email or attachment, which claim to give you an opportunity to be removed from the sender's list. A response from you simply confirms that a "real person" has been found, and could increase rather than reduce spamming of your address.

I hope this information is helpful.

It would be nice if that were the end of it, but the sites that spam change locations quite often, or already have a number of mirror sites and go from one to another as soon as one is shut down.

Hopefully they'll follow through and track the billing route to see who gets the membership bucks.

Just remember when you report em, don't report them to anyone but the authorities.. Don't report them to the host or the billing company. The authorities want to be able to see the site and if the host or billing co. shuts them off, the law won't be able to see it.. and as busy as they are with this stuff, they won't have the time to follow up on a now non-existent site.
