Free sites or Blog?

Ok I would love to get a good thread going Put in your votes. What do you think brings in more traffic a free site or a blog or some sort of combination of both. Inquiring minds want to hear your opinion.

i would have to say, with my limited experience, blogs are the way to go, if you update them frequently and post custom, entertaining content that keeps visitors comnig back daily...with these parameters you can't beat the organic se traffic that is generated...just my 2 cents

Blogs are just so much easier to put up and maintain and each post - if you include enough pictures, etc. can be submitted through linkdumps, etc.

blogs simply because free site wont pick up bookmarkers. Also you can control your traffic with blogs, free sites are more dependant on others traffic and getting listed on link lists.

I like blogs more too, but free sites have their advantages too. One being that you can pretty much bulk build any amount you want and then just forget about them and while each one won't bring in a lot of money, combined it can become a substantial sum.

Awsome I love hearing all the ideas. I think a combination of both is the way to go. Free sites are old school but I know that they still do work if you do them correctly

Define free site, if you mean like link list, then no. If you mean free site as in a porn site that is real and some what orientated then yes.. It has more potential to not only convert better, but actually become something in the long run. A blog would be only ok if directed at like a solo girl site, or very niche orientated.... But with that direction you face limited time. But blogs could be a quick hit... Free sites should be handled in long term outlook.

Most of the players here say you need 1-2 good blogs and a few auto updated splogs, let me tell you from inside knowledge, most of them saying this have 50,000+ blogs auto generated daily. So... as with anything, the inside secrets come from trial and error, hard work, and good business practive.

Generally I would say do both. However, I haven't done a single traditional free site since I started to blog. It is the similar kind of traffic that I would get from a free site and I don't have to worry about putting up recip buttons or adhering to anybody else's rules.

Freesite brings in more traffic, at least when you submit it to big LL's. But blogs in general convert better and will receive more and more traffic, freesites tend to receive less and less traffic when it gets older.

Blog Submitter, submit to 15 blog dirs with 1 form.

free sites are good traffic providers but blogs have the edge because they have fresh contents and you can do many things on blog... the reader will have an idea about the site and ones he visits it then he sure is interested... twan is right... i second the motion... fresh content for me is king

I would have to go with freesites. Quick and easy to build you submit them all over and then they get picked up by SE. I have not tried a blog yet, I would like too when I have some time. I have freesites that I built 3 years ago still getting a good amount of traffic from all over. I make sure that every freesite I build has plenty of text for the crawlers to pick up.

The free link site pages are dieing fast.. Some more juicy info from me.... As a traffic manager, I have to manage and maintain an outlook on browsing trends, figure out what surfers want, how they want it and organize a plan to give it to them... Now from daily reasearch i see that if you take a look at all the link list authority sites out there, then compare their traffic over the last 3 years, then compare it to the last 6 months, then compare it to the last 3 months... They are dieing, and dieing fast as noone wants that shit... Who wants to click a link, go to a warning page of crap, to go to a link page of advertisements with 2 gallery links of shit pics with more ads auto generated and then start over again??? It was done prior for lame search engine strategy and with new link defining algorithms from google etc.. they are now sandboxed and worthless sites.

It's a business model at the end of its ERA and its time to move forward.
