Basically, what Tony does is 'dumb down' Heuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) for the masses. So sometimes it's better to read the actual source material, or the guys who taught Tony as it were.
Richard Bandler and
John Grinder are the founders of
NLP, and I've been to both of their seminars. VERY technical stuff, more geared towards clinicians and therapists than avaerage people. But if you do better with tech stuff then read Bandler & Grinder.
Tony, to me nowadays, is better as a once a year-type kick-in-the-ass motivater than any practical 'techniques' he may teach. Because I believe, now, that putting yourself in the right 'state' (of mind) and perhaps physically putting yourself in motion is all one truly needs - unless that person is lacking actual skills/techniques. But once you learn & absorb the differant techiques Tony teaches it's just putting yourself in the right mental 'state' that can allow your brain, your
unconscious mind, to 'choose' the best course of action for you. Make sense? God, now I sound like Tony...
Still his best and easiest to absorb/apply is 'Unlimited Power'. His other books are more technique-heavy, or workbook-centric (lots of exercises). Besides, 'Unlimited Power' is just the Reader's Digest version of NLP anyway (see above).
