I wonder why the sudden change of heart, they pretty much backed the effort until recently.

On another subject, apparently Congress wants the war to end by the way they voted the new war spending bill. Out by March 2008, they say, despite the threat from Bush to veto it. I feel sorry for the soldiers if he vetoes it...not only because they won't be able to come home, but without a working budget, they're going to get shortchanged, and they get shit pay as it is.

        1. Because Iraq will be Shia dominated.
        2. The soldiers will get funds, the Pentagon can take from other programs.
        3. The Democrats filled that "bill" with things completely unrelated to the war, it is THEIR fault if the troops dont get what they need.
        4. The Democrats knew the bill would be VETOed they are just trying to make political points for the next election, so they can say they are against the war.

Splum, your points have merit but I will contest #3. It's not the Democrats' fault that the soldiers don't have what they need, it's the failure of our government at large for not providing them the necessary supplies. I particularly agree with #4 though...this is brownie point time with the American people.

This is why I hate fucking politics...everyone's just out to kiss ass, and both sides suck. I usually tend to agree with the Democrat side though, because they generally make more sense. But I'm neither a Democrat or a Republican, both sides are equally stupid.

I don't blame Democrats for voting for it, I do blame them for the ridiculous spending in it. It's amazing how the party went out and campaigned that they'd stop the war, that they'd cut out earmarks, and then they get in and don't do shit. Same old Democratic party. Say what you have to to get in power and then turn into pussies after.
