First of all, I want o make clear that I don't like Zango and other adware stuff... but these thingies are here to stay and will not go away just because you don't like them.
Also as a side note, I got a greenpeace Zango popup on one of my sites this morning, so that made me think about the real situation and not about what I like/dislike.
Also I don't like the practice some programs do about banning Zango using affiliates and then keep the money for themselves. Like it or not, Zango brings sales... lots of them if you know how to use it. And let me tell you a scret... lots of small program owners would kill to have someone promote them using Zango, specially if he is able to make 50 sales per day. They can bann the Zango affiliate after that and keep 100% of the revenue, but that's also not very fair.
This is probably the main reason why Zango will not go away tomorrow nor within the next months.
From the other hand, affiliates get really pissed if some program uses Zango and ends overriding their promo codes. They have 100% reason to get pissed and I would be also pissed if the same happened to me.
But things are that there will be always Zango or similar tool there and it will be used more and more.
Now I have come with some middle kind of solution. Instead of ignoring the problem and looking to the other side like there is absolutely no problem or screaming like a little girl, I have put myself on work and got this possible solution:
Make twin paysites to be used for Zango and such stuff promotion. These paysites will be promotable by invte. Basically a copy of the main paysite where willing affiliates can send their Zango, torrent or other kind of non standard traffic and make sales.
The main sites will be available to standard affiliates (galleris, TGP submitters etc...) and as adware and similar traffic does not go there. They will never get their affiliate codes overriden.
Of course,there must be some rules to guarantee fair play and that no one will put zango popups for the twin site on the main sites:
1 ) Anyone promoting the twin sites popping up Zangos on the main sites will get his account banned and his earnings will be distributed between all the affilites promoting the main site as long as they have made one or more sales during that period. His signups will be just assigned directly to the main sites affiliates as they will be considered their own signups. This also solves the account shutdown and program keeps all the money problem. also makes sure that no affiliates signup amking no promotion nor sales just wanting the Zango affiliates to get shutdown and get some checks for doing nothing.
2 ) Any affiliate wanting to use non standard traffic tools (Zango, torrents, p2p, etc...) can ask for invite to the twin sites promotion ring, so they can send their traffic to these sites.
To those ready to jump to the "this or that is illegal" bandwagon let me explain you that torrents p2p and Zango are not illegal in lots of countries. What is illegal is to share copyrighted information.
Also this is just an idea about a possible solution. Lots of people will not be happy with it and others will be ok. It's not that you can make a solution that will make everyoone happy. But one thing is sure.. with this system affiliates will not get screwed the way they are screwed at the moment.
