thats such bullshit. i really hate it when people start trying to suggest that all was well and normal and everyone was having a great time and all was well .. then "for no reason" they went home and killed themselves. suicide isn't something that people do on a whim. its something people do usually after years of depression and thinking about it.
if you people give a shit about why kids are killing themselves, start taking a hard look at the parents.
and just so everyone knows... its totally normal for these things to be copied. its been studied for years... one action gets attention, more people copy it. a car swerves into oncoming traffic and makes the evening news.... incidents rise across the nation. kids go into a school and start shooting... its all over the news, it then happens again and again... don't take my word for it... look it up. its quite common.
why did more kids kill themselves? most likely because of the attention given to the first. stop your fucking boo hooing about it and using words like "sweet 16" to make it sound more tragic.
stop talking about it... stop advertising it... start talking to the fucking moronic parents of the world who treat kids like pets who just need to be entertained with MTV so they'll shut the hell up and leave them alone.

When I saw this, my heart stopped a beat! I got chills! My God, I hope the school , community and most importantly the parent's are REALLY paying attention to this.
Talk, Talk, Talk to the student's!
So many parent's think that their child would never do that. Like any thing else, they will!
Watch them very closely as this epidemic is happening!
My heart goes out to you, your son and all affected by these tragedies.

in my ideal world, people are reasonable, rational and think before they speak and act... and when they do, they do it with purpose, making everyones lives easier.
but then again, in my idea world, people are also selected for life after passing a rigorous test that includes medical exams, i.q. testing and general personality testing. to have kids, they have to go through extensive training to qualify and be certified (with continual recertification tests) and afterwards, they are monitored and there will be major penalities for the failure of a child - which will be deemed as absolute proof of the failure of the parent and their ultimate act of selfishness in creating one more tax drain on society.Comment

how about this... when i have kids, it will be fully planned... then, i will treat it as the most serious thing i will ever do in my life. i will treat them as the biggest responsibility a person could ever have and the most important job a person could ever have... i will spend every waking moment parenting them, helping them develop, helping them with their school work, talking to them, counseling them, spending time with them and preparing them for life.
wish more people would do the same.
You know what? i came from a very abusive family. i remember wanting to kill myself when i was not even in my teens. fortuneately, i was lucky enough to understand even at a young age that my father was an inbred, ignorant prick and couldn't really stop himself from being an asshole and my mother wasn't strong enough to stop him or do the right thing.

i think people have a confused idea of what "freedom" is and should be. one persons "freedom" to raise a gangbanger, armed with a MAC-10 who just loves killing people, also infringes on other peoples "freedom"
there always has to be boundaries and limits. thats why there are laws. i need a license to drive a car, i need a background check to buy a gun, i need a prescription for a drug... but if i want to have 10 kids and raise them to be assholes and everyone elses problem, thats totally ok... because society can bear the full cost of my actions and decisions. i might have "freedom" to do that... but i am also forcing the consequences of my behavior on others. thats not fair to others.Comment

sure, you have a point but you never know whos life you are preventing. on one hand you could preventing said gangbanger, on the other hand you could be preventing the life of someone who finds the cure for cancer. just the way you put made it sound like something a totalitarian government would do, and its a very slippery slope from there. though its interesting. you say people should be reasonable and rational, not emotional and irrational, yet it seems your opinion is based on emotional things you went through as a child. but in the end i do agree that letting kids become a problem of the state is way to easy.you don't know you're wearing a leash if you sit by the peg all day..Comment

I think it's sad. I mean, if someone wants to off themselves, so be it, it's thier life to do with as they please. However, it's a shame when a young person does it because they haven't yet learned to mentally maneuver through situations. It's a shame how easy it is for some to 'lose control' of thier so called mental stability. The medication can be a horrible thing, or a life saver, the only downside is you don't know sometimes until it's too late.Comment

there have been studies done that showed when a suicide is committed and is published in the media (papers/tv) the suicide rate of all areas exposed goes up (as in copycats). pretty fucked up.Comment
