    Are you building for 800x600 still?

    I say fuck those people that use 800x600. Time to build for the majority and hit up either...

    1) Dynamic pages that can grow/shrink so nobody feels ripped off
    2) Build for 1024x768 minimum so the majority can take advantage of their monitor real estate.

    If a site is built for 1024x768 and the 800x600 people are there I bet they would either
    A) Change their screen rez
    B) Buy anyway and just scroll left and right a little bit
    C) Kill themselves
    ...

              you should design for 800x600 anyway because fullscreen/maximized browsing is lame.

                                  800x600 was standard 7 years ago when I started, and it's past time to upgrade. The percentage using 1024x768 is greater today than percentage using 800x600 back then.

                                      D) Join my site instead because it still looks ok on 800x600 and yours sucks.

                                              Yes, but most of us who are using higher resolutions (1680x1050 myself) DO NOT keep their browsers fully open. I keep mine at about 900 pixels wide so I can use the rest of my desktop for other apps like my TV program. Designing a site for anything wider than 800 pixels is a very bad idea.

                                                  I have started building for 1024 recently.

                                                  As far as whether the surfer has their browser open max or not, I don't build my sites for multi tasking webmasters. I build for porn surfers. From what I know, most of them want the pics as big as possible and generally surf one site at a time because thats all they can handle with only one hand to use.
