ultimately it doesn't progress the argument, but it does nicely define the boundaries of the fighting cage.
the original post was inherently weak, and invited counterattack, yours had the virtue of being true and funny.
but if your argument is that the media are innocents and all is the fault of we stupid americans, well, the media isn't a pure and innocent freemarket virgin, so everybody can see you are avoiding the issue.
