I agree - but the reality is that everything is not so black-and-white.
Many people who dont like to actually debate simply resort to pidgeon-holing and out-group homogeneity tactics - in laymans terms - paiting anyone who disagrees on one particular topic with a broad brush.. using abused social truisms saying things like "you have your head in the sand" or "you watch too much CNN" or "open your eyes" or "you are a sheep" which are all just defense mechanisms to actual discussion
