Ok, here's a very brief, and short history. Some dude started the Zionist movment (movement to find the Jewish people a home) hundreds of years ago(middle to late 1800's). He approach all the superpower including the German Kaiser, but they all rejected this idea. In WWI when Germany was defeated, Britain was given some territory in the middle east. Alot of the boundaries in the Middle East was drawn up by Britain, as a result, people's home were divided. For example, Iraq always though Kuwait was a part of their country, until the Brits divided it up. Anway, a Zionist approach Great Britain about finding a territory suitable for Israel. Britain agree on a small territory around the Sinai peninsula. England didn't want to upset the oil rich Arabs, so the colonization was very small at first.

After WWII, the Zionist movement has reached a point of no return. Alot of the superpowers, including the US felt guilty after the holicaust for rejecting Jewish imigration(alot of countries rejected Jewish immigration since it was during the great world wide depression) prior to WWII. So now, even the United States support the Zionist movement.

The aftermath of WWII also reenforce many Jews to find a suitable place. Prior to that, alot of Jews were quite happy in their native homeland. Anyway, as more and more Jewish settlement arived in Palestine, they started to buy land peice by piece from Palestinian landowner.

Realizing they might be outnumbered (at this point, Palestinians were still the majority), Palestinians petition Britian and other countries for an election. It was rejected.

By this time, there was tension among Israelis and their Palestinian neighbors. Ofcourse during this early years(I'm not good at dates), the United Nation was formed. The UN divided the territory up for both Israelis and Palestinians. Here's where the REAL PROBLEMS BEGAN.

You see, the UNs are a bunch of knucklehead. They divided the territory in such a way that it is impossible to negotiate w/o conflicts. Palestinian territories were pocketed throughout Israel. So a large plot of Palestinaian land may be surrounded by Israelis territories. That's like saying The STATE of KANSAS in the middle of the United States belong to CANADA. Eventually, the little land will be absorbed. Anyway, the argument for Palestinaians is that Israel should give back their land as sanction by the UN.

But here's the deal. When Egypt and their allies attacked Israel, they were outmatched and Israel occupy a huge chunk of land around the Middle East. Their goal wasn't to claim these territories they won during war, but use it to negotiate peace. They need a leverage, and this work for Egypt. Egypt agreed to sign a peace treaty w/ Israel for the return of the Sinai Penensula. However, no other Arab nation were willing to sign a peace treaty. Anwar Sadat, the president of Egypt back then would eventually be murdered by extremist Muslims for signing a peace accord w/ Israel.

To this day forward, Palestinians demand land sanction by the UN. However, both sides are tainted by small extremist minority groups. There are those among Palestinians and other Arabs alike that would rather see the extermination of the Jewish State, and then there are those Jewish fundamentalist that claim the land belong to the Jews, which it did a couple of thousands years ago beofore the Roman kicked them out. However, both side can't see that there will never be peace without compromise.

I saw a CNN program where an old beat up Palestinian citizen was talking about his plight and how the Israelis army has destroyed his entire belongings and home. I deeply felt sorry for him, then he went on to say that "he might be old, but his son and grandson, and great-grandson will fight on as long as there are breath w/i the Palestinaian people." Now, here lies the root of the problems. If his kids and grandkids and so forth continue to fight, their will never be an ending to the cycle of violence.

Instead of reaching to some form of truth, nationalism and old outdated pride has won over these people. Some would rather face death, and gladly do so in order to be martyre. This martyre in the mind of Westerers is coined "terrorism".
