No in all seriousness I like Lars as a person and really enjoy our conversations when we meet up at shows. I just think Lars has been strung up as a crucifixition in this industry and it's sad to see... Aff has thrown so many parties, sponsored so many functions and threw what 2 Playboy Mansion Parties and gave away a fucking ferrari?? LOL!
I think there are much worse people in the industry that should be up on the gfy martyr slab than Lars. Lars in my opinion is one of the GOOD guys in the industry, fuck I could name alot worse that do nothing but rape and pillage our industry.

This coming from a representative of a company that employs a molester and a thief. Big surprise.
Regardless of how much he sent out, a significant percentage of it comes from supporting content theft and admittedly using spyware to steal affiliate signups.
We all have our morals, our ethics, our line so to speak. And when we feel our line has been crossed, we speak out. This is trait of human kind, it's not unique to the adult industry. No matter where you look, you'll see people speaking out against injustice, theft, etc.
I'll be the first to admit that I don't make a killing in adult, since I don't apply myself anywhere near as fully as I could. But I'm comfortable with the money I make as well as how I make it. I take pride in the fact that I don't use shady tactics to increase my revenue.
Wizzo, you mentioned your lawyers. Have you ever successfully sued anyone for stealing your content? Have you ever even tried?
I pulled all my links from Cams.com which Lars is associated with. My AFF links were pulled long before the Zango drama because they simply weren't making me as much as other programs.
I'm fully aware how easily I could make bushels of cash with Zango. I consciously choose not to. That's where I draw my line.

Its very simple, why are people finding this hard to accept. Thats my only problem with him,I get a password trader, I trace it back to where it came from or a bit torrent there is a aff banner. That supports people who steal from me.

What I don't get, is you guys really are trying to have a debate with a drunk... and the sad fact is I've made about $1000 while all this has gone on.... I figure about 2hrs now lets deduct the wine cost at 2 bottles at $47(I know I'm a cheap drunk) so $1000 minus $96.... I've made $904 in the last 2 hours and you've made what? This isn't a attempt to put you down, but just trying to figure out what happened to my industry and the peeps that made money with it...Looking for Opportunity!Comment

The reason Lars gets "crucified" so to speak is because he constantly puts himself on a pedestal, brags about revenue and being the number one affiliate program and claims to be an industry leader. If you're going to play the role of leader, your followers expect you to lead. If you set a shitty example, you're going to be martyred.
The same thing would happen to anyone in a high profile position in this industry who engaged in shady or thieving tactics. People would attack Lensman constantly is Adult.com admittedly used spyware to steal signups. Look at how many people still slag 12clicks. Hell, you've been targeted yourself for accepting to propagate installers.
What makes things worse in Lars' case is that he came out and admitted what he was doing. He literally said that he was using spyware and that his use of spyware stole traffic and signups for affiliates. People aren't too impressed when you brazenly admit to screwing them.Comment

Tony, AFF has TENS OF THOUSANDS of affiliates do you think they can police every single one of them? Lars has no control if someone signs up for an AFF account grabs a few geo-targeted banners and then places them on his password trading site. They have been posted here. What has been done? I came from a mainstream dotcom , I got affiliates and tracked them . Now the software we had I knew where every click came from.I highly doubt they dont know,especially if they sending lots of sign ups. Lets face it these password trading sites and bit torrants have mountains of traffic,these arent some guy with a geocities site putting up pics and aff banners. You defended your client and when I hit 7 figures I expect the same level of service

Yep I agree with almost all of your points and they are very valid... I don't want to jump back on the defending zango bandwagon here but very few gfyers have any idea about legitimate installers. They lump ALL installers into the category of spyware no matter what they do.
We are currently doing installations for an anti-virus mainstream software company. This same program you can go to download.com and download yourself, we are not misleading the surfer or making them install anything they didn't want. If someone goes and searches for anti-virus software they are returned with our result and anti-virus software download file. The software is free for 7 days and then you are prompted with a would you like to buy your free trial has ended popup. If you don't want to buy you simply uninstall the software and that's it! No popups, no reminders, no toolbars, nothing!
People will believe whatever they want to believe but we have only ever offered LEGIT software installations. I can't afford to be fucking people over this industry is way too small and I would like to believe I'm an honest person with a good heart.
Anyways sorry for the rant, but it really bothers me that people just jump to conclusions about what we offer and how we run our business.

These thieves are some of AFFs biggest affiliates. With the money AFF makes, I'm sure their tracking scripts allow them to see the referring URLs sending them traffic. It's not rocket science to look at the referring URLs of your largest affiliates and see where the traffic is coming from. AFF has over 300 employees. If they cared, they could hire one more to do this full time. Hell, I'm a one girl operation making a tiny fraction of what AFF makes and I check out anyone I trade with who sends me an abnormal amount of traffic.
Thieves are constantly brought to AFF's attention. Shooshtime has been mentioned a dozen times in AFF threads. In one thread, shortly after Lars said he'd shut down any affiliate caught stealing content if the license holder filed a valid complaint, DukeSkywalker found stolen content (with watermarks removed, nonetheless) on Shooshtime and filed a valid complaint. Rather than can the account, Lars asked him to remove the video. Months later, Shooshtime is still full of AFF ads and stolen videos (including more of Duke's videos).Comment

I have no problems with installs. If a person wants to take a little advertising for a free program all the power to you and hope ya make a few bucks. It's Zango and others that are stealing and the people that use them are the problem. Lars fucked up on this issue. Simple as that. There is no need to go the scum way but some people have no morals. It doesn't matter how many parties they have thrown and cars they have given away. They use some of the stolen webmaster funds for it and webmaster are stupid to accept that. Plus they get to write it off on thier tax returns. So it's a win, win situation for them. If they were to go legit i'd praise them, so it's not like i'm just a hater.

No one is against making money and I don't think people are bashing Lars for making money. Fact is, if Lars can make money doing that, he should. Sure it fucks a lot of adult companies in the ass, but so does Visa, government regulations, and a load of other shit out there. It's the cost of doing business and if people don't like his tactics, they shouldn't promote him. It should be a personal decision and I think some of the bashing goes a bit far on the forums.
I think the confusing part is your position on the matter. Sure, a regular guy who promotes AFF and makes big money shouldn't have a problem at all. But you run a company that is hurt by torrent sites. It only takes a couple Google searches to find rips of your members area all over. Sure your sites convert well, they make tons of sales, but there is no doubting the fact that torrent sites do hurt overall sales numbers. The more and more those girls content becomes readily available, the worse off conversions become. There are a lot of popular girls from the past that died off because you could find their stuff everywhere.
With that said, I know you guys are smart businessmen. That's why the issue confuses me. I don't care how many beers someone buys me, if they are partly responsible for loss of income of my business, I'd be pissed. I don't know what being a "bro" is worth, but I'd think it wouldn't trump the profitibility of your business. And yes, you guys make a lot of coin, but you'd probably make a lot more if half those girls members areas weren't readily available all over.
My stance on the issue is neutral. I think what they do is shady, but my business doesn't revolve around exclusive content. I promote Cams.com a little, although they don't convert nearly as well as companies like Pussy Cash. If they made me more money than others, I'd promote them more.Comment

So you make more money than me big deal if you sold your soul to do it. We broke 6 figures two years in a row now and didnt have to fuck one person over to do it.I get to work with my wife,who is my best friend, get to keep building my skills(like flying dean capture in for a one on one class) and get to play with my puppies whenever I want. I get to do projects like getting to shoot a documentary on mental illness and I can give my time for nothing more than credit to build my reel and not have to worry about how am I going to pay my mortgage. I like my life and I dont need to steal or support people who are scummy to do it.Comment
