I have a couple prepay deals going down right now and they sort of worked out like this.
Sent sales everyday to Company X for several months, notice the conversions were superior then other sites I was pushing in that niche. Approached owner with my account name, told them I'd give them more dominant spots on the sites, and push a little more if they were willing to prepay for 100-200 sales.
I don't worry about conversions and tweaking so much on those sites/niches, they get a slightly enhanced level of traffic and joins and everyone's happy.
There has been periods where the sales take a little longer to come in, but they still come in and after a couple years of doing it, there is a fairly good level of trust developed.
Advice on both ends of it, as an affiliate, never do one of these deals unless you can back up the sales as specified, even do a test run of a month to determine how fast the sales can come in. As a sponsor, don't spend any money you can't afford to wait for (possibly lose), the more you know your webmaster you're doing it with the better it will turn out for you. A lot of people will just say DON'T do it, but again, if you know the webmaster and are getting traffic from him,/her its a good tool to get MORE from him/her
