I don't see the problem. He has an opinion and is entitled to them. He was talking to his GF, not the media or anyone else. What words he uses in his private life is his option.
A large majority of whites still use the N word from time to time. That's just a fact. It's not a present word but it's still widely used.
This is a private call to his woman and he was clearly drunk. I don't have a problem with it. He's a racist. So what? So are most of the people leading the USA. Maybe he also sticks things up his ass and dresses like a woman. I don't care. I only care that he makes great movies, and he does.
