Two stray cats on a rampage sent three people to the hospital Monday afternoon. ?I thought I had seen it all, but I have never seen anything like this,? Chief of Police Martin Gutschenritter said Tuesday while talking about the attack. Animal control officer John Pettit responded to a call for help at 812 N. Madison around 4:30 p.m. Melissa Breva told Pettit she had shut two wild cats up in a bedroom after they had attacked two women visiting her home
Wendy Holliday suffered numerous bites and scratches, Gutschenritter said. ?She had scratches on her hands, legs and feet,? the chief said. ?She was bitten on both ankles, both knees and on her left calf. She told the officer it happened when the two cats entered the residence and attacked her for no reason.? Rebecca Cheever was bitten on the right calf while she was mopping the floor in a hallway. Both women asked to be taken to the hospital.
After taking the report, Pettit returned to his truck for ?cat catchers,? used to snare the animals, when he heard screaming. ?When he ran back, he saw a young male with blood over his face,? Gutschenritter said. The boy had apparently opened the bedroom door and was attacked by the cats. ?He was bitten on his forehead, nose, left ear and right cheek,? the chief said.
