People have been convicted for simply possessing obscene Simpson cartoons. As 488 refered to it's illegal in several countries no matter what, including U.K., Canada, Australia, Sweden. More countries will follow soon.

I could care less if some kids at school think it's funny to draw Bart Simpson with a huge fucking cock. But the moment you put it on an adult site, like pornhub, it's another context. It's the fastest way to get your site blocked on search engines and ISP filters. It's not good for this industry, it gives anti-porn politicians another excuse to target the industry. And seriously, you have to ask yourself, even if it's legal and virtual, what exactly does it endorse?
