Solo girl site owners that offer affiliates discount rates on join pages....

ok, so I want to see if this has ever happened

I am going to be working with a solo girl that has never had an affiliate program before, her site price is normally like $19.95....but for the affiliate program we are going to set up a new join page that is $29.95...and yes, the site is WELL worth it....

has there ever been an issue with member talking about how much their join price is? like one guy says "i paid $29, I want this!" and another guy says "you paid what?"

does that happen, or is it pretty rare?

hrmn, are you going to have a discussion forum or a cam show where members are in the same place? that can be a problem because if there is one mention of how much they paid everyone would discuss about it. Although it is rare, i could see it happening

if i was a customer and paid 29/month and someone else paid 19/month, id feel really ripped off i could either:
      a. cancel the membership and leave for good
or b. cancel and try to find the 19/month join page

option a + b = no good for the affiliate of course

why not find a midpoint say 24.99/month and have it on all join pages?

because the site owners want to make at least $15 per sale

BTW, thebestporn.com has been doing this for years, offering discount memberships to paysites to users that read their reviews

If you look closer, you'll see that many review sites have a different price than regular affiliates

                look closer? LOL

yes, review sites get different payouts AND can offer discounts to their surfers, we know all this, but that is not the topic at hand

What's worng with keeping the current price or doing a $24.99 first month and $19.99 rebill? Many sites do it that way.

If a site converts great and retains I wouldn't have a problem pushing a ~$10/sell site

sometimes it isn't about the amount of money that the affiliate is making, but more about the amount of money the site owner is making

I was thinking your reasoning for higher payout was to attract affiliates, and posted before seeing where you stated they wanted $15 per sale.

I have many sponsors that pay in the 12.98-$14.98 range per sale/rebill but still average $20-25 or more per sell when you add up the rebills.

Assuming the site retains well, maybe explaining to them to think about the long term instead of the right now would be better.

the site does retain well, but it is VERY niched...

we will give it a shot though, and I will talk more with them about it

I have both tours, If someone thinks they can get a lot more sales at 19.99 to cover up for the 10 dollar gap and want it like that I will code a tour just for them to use.

it wont matter, and maybe she should consider raising her price.
