Not being an asshole but did he exercise? Doesn't really surprise me if he had a heart attack with his eating and drinking, and lack of exercise if that is the case.

It's too bad ... people have to get in shape when they are younger or they will regret it in the later years.

My cousin didn't drink, smoke or use drugs - and died of a heart attack at 23. They found a congential defect that no one else had found before (including the Army - he was in Germany at the time). I still have his leather bracelet and it was over 30 years when it happened

1/ it is common do some more research ..
2/ yes doctors never tell people to calm down and dont get too excited for no reason because they need to think of their heart! right now that is advice given to old people because heart attacks with young people are a new thing dont change the fact that your attitude DOES affect your heart ..
3/ if you dont know what I am talking about pls keep your mouth shut . .hit some books . . read something . .then come with something .. thx !
                        1) testosterone doesn't "make your heart beat faster" as you stated either.

                        2) adrenaline plays no role whatsoever in day to day life or general health.

                        3) if your best argument to defend your own ignorance is "go read a book" - then you have also admitted to not having an argument or defense.

To have a heart attack that young almost always points to a pre-existing heart condition that wasn't found in previous medical exams. As others have pointed out the human body can take an *enormous* amount of abuse before it succumbs to illness. Most doctors won’t even give a second thought to hypochondriacs who “feel” like they are having a heart attack if they are under 30.

It was confirmed a minor heart attack. His heart failed. Some call it the silent killer. Thanks for your diagnosis doc.

yeah... it was a minor heart attack. people are talking about the cause of the heart attack... not if it was a heart attack. its not all that uncommon and at that age, its usually due to an undiagnosed/untreated condition.

No problem, sounds like it was a pre-existing condition for sure. He's kind of lucky it happened now really, rather than a decade or more down the road. I've only heard of this happening a few times at around that age, and usually its athletes who put tons of stress on their heart (and presumably most of those don't do drugs on a regular basis) and it is usually found out that those athletes had previously undiagnosed heart conditions.

exactly. nothing draws attention away from the scar for the liver transplant like a nice set of abs.

There is a lot of complacency along with some sympathy in this thread.

I am now the age my mother was when she died: 56. She was a ballet dancer when she was younger and still the kind of dance teacher who demonstrated to her students, not just told them what to do. I suspect she was more fit than the vast majority of people here and she was very conscious of other aspects of her health. She died from liver cancer six months after first feeling "stomach pains".

I was more average. Reasonably fit (I went on playing rugby irregularly through adult life and walked a lot) and a fair diet. I wasn't overweight. I rarely caught so much as a cold and then at 45 I ended up in a cardiac unit. My liver had been busy making too much cholesterol and the way that impacted on me was such that I can't wash the dishes these days or even talk for any length of time without getting out of breath.

Some people are lucky, they come back from traumatic events almost unchanged. And of course, especially when we are young, we all feel invulnerable. But if I had my time over you can bet I would be going in for a full medical every year. Don't assume that even if you take care of yourself, there isn't something ticking away. That is a lesson you really don't want to have to learn by experience...

Sorry to hear that I agree with the fact that for 20 year old person heart attacks are uncommon, but on the other hand, 20 beers and fast food everyday it's very unhealthy and it may lead to a heart attack by the time you turn 40 years old.
