    How pigs are killed (video )

    Nothing really fabulous about the video or the process , just interesting to see how they slaughter pigs.. seems pretty painless/humane..

    I wonder what kinda juice they pump through those electrocution wands..

              A few years ago some buddies and I decided to have a pig roast.

              We called a local pig farm and the farmer says come on over and pick one out.

              We go there the day before the pig roast and pick out the fattest pig
              on the farm.

              The farmer shots it in the head with a rifle and that thing kicked for 15 minutes so he stabbed it in the heart and it still wouldn't die. The
              blood was pumping out and all the other pigs went nuts and licked
              all the blood.

              The farmer and a couple of us dragged the pig still kickin out of the pen
              and brought him to the gutting area.

              The farmer brought out a flame thower and blasted the pig and we were like
              shit what the fuck is he doing. He flamed the pig to burn the hair off and
              a layer of skin.

              We smoked the pig for about 20 hours and I was so sick of the smell I
              couldn't eat it !

                  I'm sure that conditions have improved since Upton Sinclair wrote "The Jungle", but as a former vegetarian that has returned to eating meat, I think I'll pass on that video...I've quit many vices, but I do not presently care to return to being a vegetarian.

                      heh its not really gory, the part im talking about is in the first 3 seconds. its just pigs coming through a chute and being zapped, nothing gory. the video is from the usda not peta so its not some smear campaign it just shows the slaughter process..

                                                  The electrocution does not KILL the pig. It just stuns the pig. Like One Flew Over the Cookoo's Nest.

                                                  The pig must be kept alive because they are counting on its heart to pump out the blood. That is why the blood flows out like a bag of beans... The heart is pumping it out. The pig feels that knife go in... It just doesn't react because it is stunned and in shock.

                                                  As for the guy talking about the farmer killing the pig. Are you sure it wasn't just nerves? Most head shots result in body twitching that lasts for a few minutes to as long as ten.

                                                          Fucking sad how inhumane people can be, it saves them "time" and "money" for being less humane, but makes people suck sick fucks. Everyone that kills animals painfully and intentionally without being at all concerned for their feelings should die a painful slow death

                                                          And yes, i am somewhat hypocritical since i do eat meat, but I am against cruelty to animals to the fullest

                                                                                  Its wierd because i grew up on a farm so im not new to how they slaughter animals but i have only every seen them slit them not electrocute them..

                                                                                  Thansk for the info.. Its quite similar to how they do butterball turkeys. They zap them on the neck then drain the blood , then zap them again with a larger dose to kill them

                                                                                          You have dust mites in your eyebrows right now.. these are living breathing creatures who feel pain and have family. You could live your life trying to "humanely" protect the dust mites in your eyebrows , but you dont. Why ? because it saves you time to ignore them and live your life.. So everytime you wipe your eyebrow , your killing whole families/generations of living creatures all because your satisfying your need to itch your eyebrow.. You could avoid this by never scratching your eyebrow, but you dont.

                                                                                          You have a choice not to kill those dust mites , and i have a choice not to eat meat, we both choose to take the easy route out because it saves time.

                                                                                          So unless "god" has a higher value for some creatures than others, i think at the end of the day the amount of animals we both have killed to save time and money will be rather close. i just get the satisfaction of eating them.
