HOWEVER - I think, if your point is that all these attacks are useless - then you are way too simplistic:

Many of these campaigns were not in order to protect civil rights in these nations or to over-thraw their leaders or way of life. Many of these campaigns were carried out in order to show the world, and certain countries and certain leaders that they are accountable for the actions they take against the interests of the US or the free world.

For instance, when Libyan agents downed a Pan Am 747 with hundreds of innocent American civilians, the attack of Libya was not aimed at fighting for more civil rights or freedoms in Libya. It was simply to hold them accountable and show the world America is not affraid to use its force if pushed into a corner.

Many other such operations had the same intention (Iraq, Cuba and so many others).

I think that most of the countries where the US really tried to over-thraw the government, they did so by arming/training local fighters. It was mostly covert CIA operations rather than American F-15s trying to over-thraw a way of life from 50,000 feet (like Nicaragua).

BTW, you ARE very correct that the US wasn't very successful in these covert CIA campaigns...
