If i was drafted to a war that was not on US soil or did not directly threaten The USA ..then there is no way i would go.Brand me whatever name you like, draft dodger,coward,objector..whatever...point is america was founded on standing up for what you belive in and freedom.I see it as my duty to my country to maintain these values...If not am i a realy free?Am i really what an American is suppose to be? ..me thinks not
Whatever. All I'm saying is that it is my understanding that when there is a draft in the USA, you as a person who falls within that draft do NOT have a choice in the matter. I'm not arguing that it's right or wrong, I'm just stating what I know. They don't come to each person of draft age and say "Would you like to come help out?"... no, they send you a notice telling you to report. They tell you when to report, and they tell you where to report.

I can't see the issue being up for debate when a draft is being conducted.

And yes, it's a scary notion, but I suppose it's also a question of whether or not you trust your leaders enough to give them the benefit of the doubt when they obviously should have more intel on a situation going on in the world than you do. A threat may not be right on US soil but I can think of certain instances in history where a lot of Americans were willingly drafted and fought overseas for the USA and for the cause of world freedom. Good thing very few back in the early 1940's adopted your stance of "Well, the Germans arn't attacking us on US soil so fuck the draft. Once they get here THEN I'll fight"

However, I would hope that no future draft would be instituted without a similar legitimate reason as that of the WWII era.

      Haven't been overthere yet, though.

Don't judge us all at once. I haven't been to combat yet, but I'd be hard pressed to say I haven't sacrificed something.

If you don't believe me, ask my wife if you see her, cause I haven't seen her months.

Amen to that, I spent my whole career as a Network Defense Specialist. Had my own desk and worked monday thru friday, 7:30 to 4:30 you cant beat that, besides i did a lot of traveling for training, education, etc god those where the good times, then again I got to some pretty shitty stuff once in a while because of my low rank but everyone goes thru that, just part of the chain.

I did 4 years in the submarine service, my daughter is in the Navy now! She wanted to Join the army at first, I told her that part of the uniform was a bullit proof vest, she went in the navy
Carbon is not the problem, it makes up 0.041% of our atmosphere , 95% of that is from Volcanos and decomposing plants and stuff. So people in the US are responsible for 13% of the carbon in the atmosphere which 95% is not from Humans, like cars and trucks and stuff and they want to spend trillions to fix it while Solar Panel plants are powered by coal plants
                think about that
