If they are good keywords, then it is definitely a good idea to get .us or .info domains. As far as ranking goes, .info does not rank very good but .us rank fine.
The key is getting a good domain name, for example, I got ExGF.us and it's a double bonus, short domain, niche specific and all other ExGf extensions were already taken so it was a good domain to pick up. By the way,
