The doctor is only going to tell me what I already know. "It's not healthy. Start eating again."
And I've gone through it before. (sort of).. When I left for Iraq (way back in ancient times), I was 202 and fully ready to kick some ass. When I got back, I was 144 lbs and could barely hold up my pack. Took about 5 months to build back up.SIG TOO BIGComment

Damn that's hardcore. Although you'd have better results health-wise if you just staid on water.
(no juice / milk)
That way the body starts eating and recycling the unneeded shit that has accumulated in you during your life.Comment

Are you doing any type of excersise atm Amp?The doctor is only going to tell me what I already know. "It's not healthy. Start eating again."

I am ashamed to say, no.
and I know, I know.... I desperately need to work in some exercise here soon. I've got about 4 or 5 packs of death sticks left, then I'm done with 27 years of smoking. Figured I would use exercise as one of the replacements for that. (not doing the patches or gums or any of that, just hardcore cold turkey).
It's a loose plan... but I'm feeling confident about it.SIG TOO BIGComment

I started a 1200 calorie diet where I input all the food into My Fitness Pal, an app on the phone.Congrats dude, keep at it!
Nicotine & coffee are the last two on my list. Used those as my crutch while I kicked everything else. Nicotine goes next, then coffee.
No soda
No salt
No candy or sweets of any kind
Virtually no meat (is fish meat?)
No drugs
No alcohol
The goal is clean livin'.
I'm allowed 29 grams of sugar per day. When I found out my coffee from Starbucks had 28 grams, I started changing some things.
I allow myself one soda/week. I really like Mt. Dew, especially with pizza. And I don't do "diet" drinks. The shit in those is just as bad for you as the sugar in regular soda. Other than my one soda, High Fructose Corn Syrup has been completely removed from my diet. Went to all natural cereals, check all the ingredients, etc.
I've gone down to sugarfree hazelnut and a size smaller, grande and I've cut out sweets.
I've also begun to workout. Five times per week I'm on the machines running with abs and ass worked in there, then three times per week full on lifting. On the weekends, I try to do at least 20 miles biking.
I'm down 12 lbs, with 13 more to go. I went down a size and magically my closet opened up more and I have 20 more pairs of shorts that fit!Last edited by kristin; 06-16-2010, 09:08 AM.Comment

it's a cereal i created that consists of raw, nutrient dense superfoods- quinoa, buckwheat, chia seeds, and ~10 different freeze dried fruits and berries.
it is tasty and loaded with nutrients, amino acids, antioxidants, essential fatty acids and healthy carbs. will be offering it for sale very soon.Comment

Yeah, I started having some trouble with the button on my 36" jeans & shorts and knew I was at a turning point. The direction I was going to go after that was up to me. I refused to replace everything again with 38"s and started taking a look at the 'why'.
But I still have a long way to go. 2010 is my year of dropping bad habits.SIG TOO BIGComment

Come on, some people saying it's hard to give up soda?
Know how I got off soda? I stopped buying soda.
Know how I quit smoking? I stopped buying cigarettes.
This is not a joke. It really works.
It turns out that if it's impossible to get at the stuff, you get off the stuff.

It's pretty easy if you go to the Organic stores. They have bins of granola, sliced almonds, dried berries (I love dried Cranberries), all sorts of shit to mix together to make some tasty cereals.
And it definitely keeps you regular!Comment

Funny, 2010 is my year of dropping habits as well, and picking up good habits. I think I subconsciously know I'm turning 30 this year and made changes.Very admirable...

I went to the dentist to get my cavities filled, started working out, started getting weekly massages (it was this or physical therapy, I hate PT), and started eating better.
I also volunteer to coach 6 & 7 year olds for soccer, that feels good on the inside. =)Comment

actually, it's been pretty difficult to create this cereal. it's taken a lot of research and trial & error.
the goal was to provide the daily required nutrients + 5000 ORAC units & efa's and still keep it tasty, no sugar, no bs and all carbs with a gi rating below 100. there's no other cereal/food on the market that does this.

Thanks, got three spots I want to work on the most. I'm hoping the next six months are fruitful in that venture.
Women get fat in such different spots, I'm sure you aren't working your Oprah underarm and saddlebags as much as myself. But then again, I don't want pecs and you seem to have worked those well!Comment

Ahh I see, yeah that's a bit more working than mixing some oats and granola.actually, it's been pretty difficult to create this cereal. it's taken a lot of research and trial & error.

Very cool, how long has it taken you to get the cereal just right?Comment

Best advice right there. That's exactly how I got off alcohol and pills. I just made up my mind one day and stopped. No group therapy or proclamations to god or visitation from aliens... I went through hell and back with DTs and withdrawal from some of the pills, but obviously I survived. We all have a choice. That's the only 'secret' anyone needs to know. It's always a choice.Come on, some people saying it's hard to give up soda?

And you know why it's hard to give it up? Because it's fucking addicting from all the shit they put in there.
I gave it up the same way - stopped buying it.
Once you go past the withdrawals, it's easy.Comment

Soda I could stop by not buying it. Cigarettes were a different story - I stopped over six years ago, but used the Patch.Come on, some people saying it's hard to give up soda?

Best decision I ever made was to quit smoking. I can't even stand the smell of it anymore.Comment

close to 2 months. it could of gone quicker but i have to be careful taste testing or i'd blow my personal fitness/health goals overeating! lol it's so nutrient dense, all your daily requirements (except for total calories, proteins and carbs, obviously) are satisfied in ~1/4 cup.
i would be happy to send you some when it gets professionally packaged.

I've never smoked but used to get through a huge amount of sugary drinks until I just stopped buying them. Water ever since now for about 4 years.
I sort of think that too. Your body will be eating up your muscles to keep it going.↑ see post ↑
