I once flew a model in to work with us. She canceled the shoot when she got there because we did not test at AIM. What we did have was a PCR-DNA test AND a ELISA test that was recent from a real hospital, but that was not good enough because it did not say AIM. Stupid whore. I doubt if 98% of the models who test at AIM even know what "PCR" stands for.

If you had a test from a hospital(i think you mean laboratory), how was that model supposed to verify if that test was valid? No hospital will tell a third party somebody else's hiv test results. Nor will any private doctors office. That is what makes AIM different.(the lab that performs the test reprts it to the doctor who ordered it.) Whithout a written release from the patient the doctor will not report that reusult to anyone but the individual who was tested(or to proper county authorities if the test is positive.) And i highly doubt than any individual doctor is going to risk crossing that confidentiality line, let alone have a legal release form for the patient to sign.

And just for the hell of it, can you tell us what pcr stands for and what the difference is between it and an elisa test?

I always ask the performes to see and verify each others tests, if any doubt a call to AIM to clear up any irregularities. I also verify the tests myself, many of my clients request that i sign a document verifying i have verified HIV/STD tests etc..

On that note, AIM has goot much much worse to work with. Many times when you call to verify a test, they put you on hold forever..also, the service in the main office has deteriotated to a point of unacceptable low levels.

I'm not saying they should police the industry, and mostly that is because they are not competent enough to do it. However, since this incident I have seen them make public information regarding performers that may be using fake tests, just the same as the make public when someone has HIV.

When the model didn't care, AIM didn't care and her agent didn't care... I got the message load and clear, so then I didn't care. I certainly am not here to police or save the industry. I had better things to do than spend my time alerting an industry that didn't care about it. I was freaking out about my own health at the time.

It is not practice for every studio to call AIM before every scene to start. AIM would have to hire an entire staff if porn valley were to do this.

At that time, and this was a few years ago, AIM would show you how to verify a real test and what to look for. I did that, it checked out. It WAS a real test, it just wasn't hers. Jade had not tested herself for a long time and was using someone else's test. Maybe that was not clear in my original post.

In retrospect, I would have saved myself a lot of grief if I would have called AIM before the shoot started. Hell, every company should, but they don't. I would expect to be duped from a no-name whore who is fresh in the biz, but not by a known performer.

Anyway, I'm not here to battle anyone about this, this is all water under the bridge for me. I just posted the facts, take what you will from it. I don't care either way.

                  From the AIM-Med web site:

WHAT IS THE PCR/DNA TEST FOR HIV AND HOW IS IT DIFFERENT FROM THE ELISA TEST?

The PCR/DNA test for HIV is the most accurate early detection test on the market. This test screens for the HIV inhibitory substance (the presence of the disease itself) so we can detect the HIV virus as soon as 14 days after you have been exposed.

In the porn industry it is recommended that you screen for HIV by PCR/DNA at least every 30 days. Often non-condom players get tested every two weeks for HIV by PCR/DNA.

WHY DOES AIM USE THE PCR/DNA TEST? WHAT IS IT?

AIM uses this test because it is the best test for early detection of HIV and works as a stellar monitoring screening test for adult entertainment workers and the sexually active.

The standard test you would get in a doctor's office would be the ELISA test, which is a great test, but it has a window period of 6 months because it tests only for the antibody which can take up to 6 months to mature in a young healthy person.

Can you imagine how many people you can infect in 6 months if you are working in porn? A lot.

The PCR (polymearase chain reaction) test tests for the HIV inhibitor itself (the disease) and through an amplification process, HIV can be detected just after about 2 weeks (give or take a day or two).

AIM has a new system now that greatly cuts down on having to call and be put on hold forever. We have been using it for a few months as we test out of Las Vegas as well. It works great, and they also email you the results of your own test, which they never did before. We always verify before a shoot, mainly to put the talent at ease. Oddly enough people have no problems sticking their dick in some chick's ass, but they get all uptight about asking for tests (at least the new ones do)....

Amen to that. And don't leave out the porn whores that will escort and fuck a stranger non-condom for $100 - $200 extra bucks, and then show up on a set the next day with her "clean" bill of health in hand.

what i find most peculiar about aim is they do not test for hep b and hep c. I mean, who the fu*k cares if someone is hiv free when there is a likleyhood they have hep c. I mean hep c is fatal too.
A friend of mine called that phd woman who runs the place and who claims shes a doctor (i hate when phd's reffer to themselves as doctors; its so equivocal), and he asked her "what about hep b and c" "whats the logic of testing for hiv when you are more likley to catch one of the heps which are fatal; it makes no sense. The woman, instead of acting calm and collected and someone of the intellectual capacity a person with a phd should posses, she began screaming into the phone like a crazy chic. Makes you wonder.
Second, that public data base is good for controling outbreaks and is the only mitigating factor for having it, but damn, imagine comming down with the package and you are on luke ford, gfy, and every other board there is with you grill on page 1. No thank you, I will go to qwest, or one of the other major labs and get a "complete" blood test done. Heck, they even give you your cholestorol levels. Anyways, enough of my rant, but when that hiv outbreak happened, its enough to find out you have a life altering disease, but now everyone just pinned a big letter A on your chest.

All of the tests mentione d are available at AIM at a reduced cost for perfomers. It is the PERFORMERS who determine what tests are done, not the staff of AIM. If the performers decided that these test should be done on a regular basis, then AIM could accomodate them.

As far as using qwest( i assume you mean Quest Diagnostic Labs) AIM currently uses Westcliff Lab. AIM does not perform the actual testing. And you can get cholesterol, pregnancy, thyroid, paps, herpes, syphillis, hepatitis, and any other lab test that you could get from you private physician at AIM.
AIM does not have the authority to aorder any test that the patient does not request. I think the INDUSTRY needs to reevaluate its priorities, but there is no organization to do it. There is no guild or union and no unified voice for the performers so you're left with a charity organization, on a shoestring budget, and a bunch of dorector, producers and talent who could really care less.

The point im actuall trying to make is; I've seen on so many of these boards the question, Why doesnt AIM test for these other things? The real question is Why doesnt the INDUSTRY demand that these tests be done?
AIM doesnt make the rules, the PERFORMERS do. It is the PERFORMERS responsibility to take care of themselves.

p.s. in the state of california it is ILLEGAL to require an HIV test as a condition of employment.

                                    This I agree with 110%.

And the answer is: Because the industry doesn't care!

Sure, there are a handful of stand up people in the industry who do, but as a whole... they don't. You can't shoot a 65 man creampie, cum IN a girls EYE, or bully girls into non-condom anal scenes, then tell me you care about your talent.

If they did care, they would have MANDATORY TESTING for ALL STDs, HIV and all sexually transmitted forms of Hepatitis.

Actually I work for the San Diego Health Department. I've posted on one of these adult message boards before. Several performers live in SanDiego and I have had occasion to have to cantact AIM regarding reportable cases of std,s. And I think I've come to the exact same conclusion as you dirtywhiteboy, and that is, nobody cares.
