    What would you do?

What would you do for a million bucks?

    Domain names (milliondollarwritingcontest.com, .org, .net)

The concept behind the site is the question everyone has asked a friend at one point or another... "What would you do for a million bucks??"

The idea is to have a people state in 500 words or less, what they would do, pay the $10 "entrance" fee (It is a writing contest after all) and collect votes. The winner would get the cool million, provided he/she does what she said they would.

I've built about 40% of the site, but I'm running out of money and time on this project, so I'm looking for a partner who wants to throw some cash in, or take the whole thing off my hands. I can stick around to finish the site if someone buys the whole lot off of me.

Obviously, as the site is not live, I have 0 (zero) traffic, but a few press releases or a call to Howard Stern should get the college kids jumping onboard.

BTW, there's nothing at the domain names now. I code locally on my mac. If someone wants to see a screenshot or discuss this, email me at [email protected]

The idea of the site is good, the only problem is that you would need at least a 100,000 entries just to get the million dollar for prize money. Then you would have to read the more than 100,000 essays. Its just too much work and too risky.

But anyways good luck with that (and a friendly bump)

Thanks for the reply. I know that it would take 100,000 posts to raise the funds if we were to only rely on the $10 entry fee. Additional funds would come from advertising (assuming we get the same press as Alex Tew did with his first site).

As a site owner, we wouldn't have to read any of the posts. That would be handled by a vote system - where each view would be worth 1 point, and optionally a viewer could add an extra 1-4 points by clicking on a star depending on whether they like it. So just for getting someone to read your post, you get 1 point, and if it's good, you can get as much as 5 points total if that viewer votes.

          oh, and *bump*
