Webair virtual servers and arrow trader extreme
so i recently realized that somehow my cron setting for atx had changed from every minute to every 5minutes. so i changed it back to one minute. the next day the same thing happened. 5 days went by and frustration set in so i emailed support. they said:
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Dear client. We do not allow crons to run every minute on our virtual hosting plans as it places too much of a strain on the shared server.
Dear client. Yes it is not a hack. We have implemented that feature about a month ago. ATX should work with interval of 5 minutes.
-------------------------------------------------------
and then i emailed arrow scripts and got this:
--------------------------------------------------------
In theory its possible to run ATX once every 5 minutes.
But keep the following in mind
1) You will only see 1/5th of all statistics, so your site in reality is 5x larger than reported
2) Because ATX can only work with 20% of all data, it runs far less efficient
3) Several features will not work, because they only run once per hour or day, like backups, history logs, etc
4) ATX will detect that its not running every minute, resulting in constant synchronization, which is actually more
cpu intensive than just running ATX every minute.
I highly suggest that you upgrade to a dedicated server as soon as your budget allows it.
They aren't that expensive these days, but make a world of difference.
Best regards,
Frank

i then emailed webair what arrow sent me and got this reply:
-------------------------------------------------------------------
In our tests we found running it every minute caused a much higher load on the shared servers, and in some cases impacted other clients services from functioning correctly. If you would like to run crons every minutes, please speal to your account manager about possible upgrade options.

so whats my options here?
